Repairing unique armor

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:14 pm

Is there a way to repair pieces like the Sheriff's Duster, the Assassin's armor, Josh Graham's armor, etc? I've been wearing them out, and not having any luck finding an item that lets me repair them. Is there a vendor I'm not thinking of? The Sheriff's Duster I can kind of understand as it provides zero armor anyway, but I don't have Jury Rigging and am at level 40, so I'm guessing that one is SOL, but Josh's armor, or the Assassin armor, is there anyone who can do it?

And I've made a cursory search, but does Josh Graham disappear from Zion after you finish it, or have I just not found him yet?

Thanks.

The Jury Rigging is the only thing I know of at the moment.

But I will keep an eye out. Like to make a new game after each dlc and replay the game.

I jogged down your screen name, Send you a message if I come across any peeps.

Daniel, Graham, Follows-Chalk and Waking Cloud all disappear from Zion after you finish.

Without Jury Rigging:

As far as I know, clothes (not light armor, but actual clothes) can only be repaired with identical clothes.. No vendors will repair them.

For armor, vendors can fix them up, but it ain't cheap. I'd suggest tracking down skill books for repair, and picking up JR as soon as the next DLC raises the cap.

Edit: as for particular vendors, check with Major Knight at Mojave Outpost. Just make sure to bring a full wallet.

Seems silly to have Weapon Repair Kits and not some sort of Armor refurbishing kits you can make or buy.

Yes, but like these guys said, get Jurry Rigging when the next DLC comes out. It is really useful especially for armor. All light armors in the game can repair each other, so you can repair Joshua's armor with even a Pre-War Casualwear.

Weapons would tend to be easier to repair than armor its a lot easier to replace a broken spring than to attempt to patch a hole in your metal armor and that would be assuming it was patchable most body armors like kevlar and ceramics aren't they get damage theres no way to fix them. Also from a balance standpoint good armor in poor condition is rather easy to obtain having a cheap way to repair it would allow early use of the best armors kinda breaking the armor progression.

I wouldn't waste a perk on Jury Rigging, personally. Money is so easy to come by just go to Major Knight in the Mojave Outpost and get your armor repaired, no matter the cost. It's not like you'll be bleeding caps. Weapon Repair Kits for everything else.

What? Without Jury Rigging I was struggling to keep my 20,000 Cap wallet.

You can pay to have it repaired, right?

Jury Rigging is the best perk in the game. Not surprising, as it is a perk for the absolute best skill in the game, Repair.

Thanks all.

I'll try Major Knight. Otherwise, it looks like Jury Rigging is a perk to get on the next DLC, and on all my other characters from now on. Past a certain point in the game money was not an issue, so I hadn't given much thought to a perk that didn't help take down enemies. Silly me, as I had no qualms about pumping my repair to 100, but gave no thought to vendors not fixing clothing.

That is probably the best answer that can be given.

Josh Graham's armor can be repaired with Powder Ganger guard armor (not the regular prisoner uniforms but the armored version). If you already wiped out everyone at the prison try Vault 19.

Those guys wear normal armor. Hunter's Farm and the Powder Ganger camps are a good source, though.

Jury rigging is the obvious answer but it would be nice if there were specialist traders who could repair armour or clothing. I live in a very rural community and the ability to sew is a tradeable skill and it should be in the fallout world, it shouldn't be a perk you can just choose to have.

Jury Rigging 0wns
Repairing Anti-Material rifles with BB guns is amazing.
Not having to travel back to town constantly for repairs and instead just being able to finish dungeons with all of your equipment working perfectly is incredibly useful.

and, on-topic, repairing unique armor with pre-war business suits is the only way to fly

There are some NPCs with high repair value, its not cheap but also it consumes no resources from the player besides caps.

If you "want to do it yourself" then you have to invest on it, besides Jury Rigging allows, for example, repairing T-51b power armor with Metal Armor ... I dont think anyone in your rural community can repair a bullet proof vest with your grandma knitted sweater, with Jury Rigging its pretty much what you are doing.

That would make sense, they are both just like bulletproof vests.

Jury rigging can get frustrating. If you play half asleep, you can lose some important items by accident. Old lady Gibson repairs a lower level repair.repairing with Old lady gibson puts the caps you pay her into her buy back fund . The guy at the desk at Mojave outpost seems to repair fully.(might be because of confirmed bachelor)

i found the desert ranger combat armor in honest hearts and i run around in that. jury rigger helps so much cause all i have to do is buy combat armor to fix it
edit: i saw that you could make gecko backed armors, it would only make since that you should be able to make an amor repair kit out of tanned gecko hides, scrap metal, (and just for the hell of it scrap electronics for power armor)
