REPCONN facility- what the hell am I supposed to do?

Post » Wed Aug 25, 2010 7:10 am

I've made it all the way to the basemebt of the REPCONN building, and all I've found were a bunch of hostile Ghouls and Nightkin guarding a dead Ghoul in the basemant. Now, who the heck did that voice on the intercom was, why did he want me to get down there, and what the heck am I supposed to do next?

Didn't help. I have not encountered ANY talking NPC on my way into the basemant, only the intercom upon entrance.

You can't get into the basemant without talking to the ghouls upstairs because you need the key to unlock the basemant door. But once you get into the basemant, just kill all the nightkin. Sneak around and shoot first and fast when you come across one. The 10mm submachine gun does a good job on them.

I already have the key to the basemant door. Does that mean I killed someone I shouldn't have?

Stupid question....did you have a quest when you went there, or did you just go there on your own.

If you were in the top floor (the dark room with the dead cows & metal looking platforms in it has the stairs up to it) and killed all the ghouls up there, including a special glowy-green looking one, yes, he was important to a side quest. But....I'm not entirely sure you have to do his stuff to actually complete the main objective (get rid of the ghoul problem for Novac), no matter how you acquired the objective. It's possible if you just kill them all & the nightkin, that would work too. I've never tried it that way.

Got a quest from a sinper in Novac (NOT Boone) to chase ghouls out of REPCONN by whatever means necessary.

I (or rather, first Ed-E-ot and then myself) shot at anything that showed up as red on my compass. Didn't notice any green glowy ones among the ghouls, but if there was one, he must have been hostile by default.

The green glowy one (jason) should not be hostile by default...if he was, sounds like a glitch. Also, you'd know he was special because he wears a brown suit. A rather ratty suit, but he's definitely distinct from your common ghoul.

The only ghouls I've met so far were feral ones. Damned if I know what a common one looks like.

I'm going to go back to my saves before entering the REPCONN building, and try again. If it doesn't work I'll just shoot anything that moves and carry away as much loot as possible. Hopefully kill-them-all still solves the quest.

On the top floor of the building there are non-feral ones you can talk to. If I remember correctly you have to take the stairs in the factory part of the building up to the very top where there is a door with an intercom. They will let you in and get you do do some quest for them. At that point you finally venture down to the basemant to take care of all those ferals and such.

This is one of the most confusing buildings that I have encountered in NV and the waypoint markers are absolutely no help in the building. So don't try to follow the quest markers...loook at your map and figure out how to get to the destination without blindly following the little triangle...you be much happier. On a side note, it did take me nearly an hour to figure out how to get to non-ferals because of this. Don't give up, its probly not glitched, just very hard to find.

The lock can be picked.

the sane ghouls will give you quests which gives experience points. also after the game is over, they will protect novac in the credits thingy at the end.

Have you talked face-to-face with a regular human in that building that thinks he's a ghoul? If not, then you have not yet found the Bright Brotherhood upstairs. You cannot progress to the lucid ghouls without going through the deluded human NPC first.

Guys, I've already said I've completed the quest. Watched the rockets fly, even corrected their flight path (cost me a Programmer's Digest). I hope they find themselves a nice radioactive planet to settle :)

Thanks again to everyone who tried to help.
