Replay value?

Post » Sat Jul 17, 2010 5:53 am

No idea if this has been posted before but I'm really wondering about replay value what missions concern.

Ok the main story will remain always the same, that I know.
I was just wondering if there's a lot of variety in the game when you choose to join up with one faction and after your playthrough with another and after that yet another.
Will it always be some kind of different experience?
Really curious about that.

I just want this game to keep me busy for a couple of years.
Not only with the vanilla game and its missions (which I find really important) but also with mods of course.

Thx in advance for the serious reply's guys and for enlightning me on this.

The crux of the main story will likely remain the same, but you have various ways that'll lead you to the end - and the ending will reflect your actions in sidequests also (at least to a certain degree) so it's not just about with what faction you choose to go with (if any).

I should think that the different factions would provide significant replay value (at least I hope so!), and while I've never personally been able to use mods, the consensus seems to be that they can significantly rework/reimagine a game so as to keep it fresh.

That I understand but will teaming up with several factions on different playthroughs will give you a total different experience next to the outcome of the main quest?

Maybe its too early of course to ask this question since noone hasn't played the game yet, but maybe some of you guys know more about the game than me already.

Thx for the quick reply guys, I really do hope so myself.

For the next 3 years, financial reasons, I won't be able to afford a new game so I want this one to last as long as possible.

Good thing that I could just in time purchase this good enough comp before financial problems started to kick in.

Here's hoping that once I've seen and done it all, that there's a possibilty for mod makers to make it even longer lasting.

There was a time when I could still afford stuff so I still have an Xbox 360 and a PS3 over here as well but I'm glad I could choose to go for the PC version so it could last me longer.
At least that's what I'm hoping.
No idea if modding is possible with this one, but I presume it is.

I would ask you, what happened to your PC that it crashed, but that would take it too much off topic.
Don't hesitate to PM me though ;)

game will last a long time as vanilla. Then there will be DLCs, and the modding community makes fantastic DLC quality mods now, so this game will last you until... well, until Fallout 4 comes out anyway (a good few years away).

That all sounds really good :)

Is it already confirmed btw that there will be an SDK or some sort?
Really hope so or that gamers at least can change/add stuff to this game even without an SDK.

I think Sawyer confirmed there will be an SDK variant for F:NV so yeah there'll be mods! Also he said that many of the FO3 mods will be semi transferable, so in all likelihood with a little bit of work the good ones from FO3 will be taken over to NV (of course not all of them but the 'improvement' ones)

So erm yeah, good choice, F:NV will likely keep you busy for some time!

yeah, the said the New Vegas Geck will come out shortly after the game, which is great news. Even if not, I'm sure that wouldn't stop the modders anyway.

I'm in the same boat as you, would you believe that Fallout 3 is the only game I've bought in the last 3 years? And possibly New Vegas will be the only game I buy for the next three. I'm not a hardcoe gamer by anymeans, but I do love my Fallout :fallout:

That all sounds wonderful :)

So with a bit of luck some of us ;) can keep busy for another 3 years.

I can't imagine putting any less time into NV than I did on FO3... so that'll take care of hundreds of hours of my life... Like many of you, I still play fo3, fo2, and fo1 to this day...
