Replenish Grenades

Post » Sat Jul 03, 2010 5:24 am

I didn't say I prefer it one way or the other, just that I will actually use them if I don't have to put my gun away. Its always fun running into someone who has their nade out and getting a few free shots in. I never have that problem because I never have the nade out in the first place.

I wish that you had a chance to blow grenades up in the air with rapid fire just for laughs. That is possible right? It's my favorite thing you can do in fallout. As soon as someone tries to throw an explosive at me I shoot it while it's in their hand. So effective. It'd be cool if you could shoot towards their hand and blow it up in their face.

Yes, there is an ability to shoot grenades in midair - it is a high level skill. However, I don't know the details. The devs spoke about being able to shoot your own grenades, and rain down shrapnel on players, but I don't know if you can shoot other peoples grenades.

In BC2 if i could blow up people's RPGs in their hands with a rifle that would be amazing. They always have a couple dudes next to them.

Who said grenades won't insta-kill in Brink? If a grenade lands on you, I expect you to die.

Almost nothing in BRINK will instantly kill.

Except for sticky-grenades and (possibly) backstabs.

I often have a great laugh at people who throw C4s in MW2 (but also Rainbox Six Vegas 2) and I accidently blow it up infront of their face.

That's ridiculous. I see what SD is trying to do but come on....if a grenade lands right next to you or step on a mine, it should be an instant kill. SD is trying too hard

+1
But I do understand where RayAntG is coming from. Realism and all that

Also I love this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T--G56pv-3U at 0:52-0:58 "B0Om GreNade Headshot"

Direct hit from a grenade , explosive or mine should at least cause serious damage, otherwise it's pretty useless

Serious damage and you get knocked over.

You know what would be even cooler ?

When you see a grenade coming , you use your melee attack to smash it away like a baseball :D :toughninja:

This is just a false statement.

The only thing the devs have said is that, "No GUN, by default, can kill in one hit."

Grenades are not guns - neither are knives, and we know a knife will kill an unbuffed Light in one hit.

If a knife can kill in one hit, I fully expect a grenade to ruin your day.

The only grenades I can possibly see not killing in one hit, are grenades shot from GL attachments, and maybe from regular GL's as well. The chance that a hand grenade will not kill you in one hit, is slim to none.

I believe more in Wraith's statement than in yours, though.

A grenade won't kill you in a direct hit, but rather knock you over (probably down an unbuffed light then).

Well, when a hand grenade lands at your feet and you die (or explode, if this was W:ET) don't say I didn't give you a heads up.

I won't ever be waiting anywhere for a grenade to come too close anyway.

In most of the games i played on PC, you had to switch to the grenade to use it, so i never did. Isn't worth the risk of putting away my gun. I actually use them if you can just press a button to throw one, but I get along just fine with no nades at all.

That's the way it should be in my opinion.

It only takes one hand to toss a grenade....so you shouldn't have to switch to grenade in order to throw it. That's wack.

This is Splash Damage, son, and in Splash Damage games, grenades can be cooked. You don't need to be waiting - you can be moving at full speed, and suddenly someone tosses a perfectly timed grenade, to explode in your face.

That's a good point. What if throwing a grenade makes you lose the ability to ADS and makes your hipfire somewhat more inaccurate? Of course, that would only work for light weapons and sidearms.

The first time I heard them talking about grenade knocking people down, I'm pretty sure it was Paul Wedgwood rationalizing the fact that they cannot OHK people. something along the lines of 'They wont kill people outright, but if you are too close, they will knock you down'

That sounds like a great idea. It would certainly cut down on spam. No more random lobbing nades over a high wall and hoping for a double.

How is what you described spam? Spam is when players repeatedly toss nades, one after the other, not just tossing one nade and hoping for the best. The cooldown timer that Brink has, is what counters grenade spam, not making them weaker.

In their previous game, nades were actually used tactical or atleast they only were effective if you used them that way. I mostly used them to secure entrances in certain rooms or to check corners. It was like tik-tik-tik-run around corner-tik-throw-boom.

If they are used the way you should use them, then knockdown will be just fine.

Last year I watched a similar tactic of dignitas on supplydepot defensive side. They were just throwing nades one at a time to keep the rushers from invading main entrance. Was pretty epic :D

Team dignitas, I remember them :D On supply's first spawnpoint? Well, they could've used the high ground even though it provides less cover.
