Reporting Items for Unofficial F:NV Patch?

Post » Thu Oct 29, 2009 12:57 am

Wondering if Quarn / Quazzy will be undertaking the enormous task of creating a F:NV unofficial patch?

Attempted to message Quarn, but inbox must be full :) No surprise :)

I'm wondering where I can start reporting items that are unlikely to be fixed by Bethesda/Obsidian, such as holes in landscape, etc.

I have to wait 60 seconds before searching again? Really? That's not really flood control, that's just annoying. If my first search didn't work, I want to change my keywords and search again, not have to wait a minute before doing so.

Anyway, sorry, that's why I'm posting this instead of searching the forums to see if this has already been posted about, which I'm sure it has been :P

I made a similar post http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1126592-minor-problems-list/
No one replied, so I'm guessing there isn't such a list yet. Maybe we should just go ahead and start one ourselves on the Vault wiki?
Who knows.. Perhaps Obsidian will be better in this area, and will actually fix such minor things? :whistling:
ps. Yes, the search thing svcks.

Well, seeing as how Quarn hasn't been active in the forums for more than a year. And hasn't updated/made any more mods in that time, I doubt he's gonna be the one doing a patch.

FOOK has a mod out with some bug fixes. However, they decided to "attach" some extra items to it as well. I just need to download and install the G.E.C.K. so I can strip those out.

Yes, I just saw that mod when I was looking through the nexus... It might be worth adding what they have fixed to whatever big list is created, but like you say, it's not much use for the fixes for this kind of thing being in a mod that also adds things and changes gameplay. Unless of course that was an official patch.
If the FOOK people are going to address this kind of issue, perhaps they could separate these fixes into one file, and put their additions/changes in another file.

Yea, I saw the FOOK file too and was thinking pretty much the same thing.

Hmmm... from what I read the UF3P also was left in a somewhat "unfinished" state... and I think the great bug report site that was being used is also gone.

Would be a shame if Quarn didn't do it, don't know how much I trust anyone else to do it right ;)

It's essential to only fix things, not make additions or changes.

There's an apparently semi-official bug thread http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1130833-bug-list/ now...
But it contains all kinds of stuff... Engine problems, performance problems, audio problems, things that only happened once, etc, and not just the kind of things we are talking about...

Most bugs are best quashed on a one-by-one basis with individual mods... then look and see what bugs are still left after a few more patches. (There's already a lot of bug-fix mods on Nexus.) Just feels like jumping the gun to try and create a mega-fix mod this early in the lifecycle.

So, if you see something fix it (and a few other bugs at the same time), then release it as a mini-mod. If you ever see a mega-fix mod start to take shape, see if you can get your fixes merged in.

I'd rather wait before seeing any type of actual community bug patches until there's been at least a solid patch for content instead of the two 'quick fixes' that have come out.
