Reputation with Deities

Post » Sun Mar 06, 2011 9:14 pm

One thing that Daggerfall (and Morrowind too) had that were missing in Oblivion, were religious factions. This could be a great concept to implement into Skyrim. Reputations with certain religious factions could give you social, as well as divine, "perks". For example, if you have allied yourself with Kynareth, followers may give you access to safehouses, while Kynareth makes animals in the wild less hostile to you.

Tell me what you think of religious factions, and why you think (or don't think) they would make Skyrim a better game.

I would love an excuse to have wild enemies stop attacking me and ther small perks to worshipping a deity.

I like this.

Namira bonuses.......would be difficult though. Some kind of darkening ability or special dialogue with grotesque people and
degenerates?

Sanguine would give boosts to drinking alcohol and give you dialogue for awesome pick up lines. Pickup line success may vary.

Bal would give a bonus to soultrapping and dialogue to twist and darken someones heart.

Not necessarily the Imperial Aedra and Daedra. I'd like to see Skyrim's cults and them being different from Cyrodiil's. More mysterious, in connection to nature and warrior-like.

I meant joinable factions, but you are right about knights of the nine. The dark brotherhood, were kind of a religious faction I suppose.

The more factions you can join the better, to a certain degree. I hope there are prerequisites for the factions though, for instance you can't be in two opposing cults. Oblivion was lacking in faction complexity, and a the Morrowind style of factions would suit Skyrim well.

Expand expand expand :) Religious factions and religious fanatics. Who is who for a specific deity is not something that becomes obvious but require some intuition and investigation to figure out. Increasing your affliction with one group gains two points for that group, and one point each for "similar" groups. However, if the group is fanatics, you will also lower the points with *all other* groups, after a week or so when the rumor spreads. Random setup so internet doesn't have the solution. The point of this side game is to get above a certain amount of score. Once achieved, you get Divine Intervention. If you manage to get the top score possible, you also get Almsivi Intervention. Too nuts? Lol.

I want to be aligned with Hermaeus Mora or Clavicus Vile. It's hard to choose. Do I want infinite knowledge or to side with the Soul Collector? Hmmm.

I say yes. Though I'd probably just use them to get the perk and then later kill them...

At which time you'd lose your favor with the deity and lose the perk. ;)

k sorry if this is really stupid, but Alduin and Akatosh are the same entity correct? If so where does that leave the rest of the Aedra in terms of interacting with the people of Nirn and vice versa?
