(REQ) Alternative Frostmoth

I didn't find anything like this using the search bar, just thought I'd ask.

So this is something I've thought of for quite a while. It's basically a replacement for Fort Frostmoth that has it looking more like a frontier outpost than a heavily supported legion fortification. It would consist of a large wooden palisade (rough logs, sharpened tops) with a rampart, maybe some lookout towers, a main hall at the back wall, and two outbuildings on the left and right side, probably a barracks on one end and the supply house/blacksmith on the other.

This was inspired by a few things. First, we have Skyrim coming out, so all things cold and Nord are hot. Secondly, the destruction caused at FF during the werewolve's attack is just unrealistic. I figure a wooden fort is much more likely to catch fire and fall apart if someone knocks over a lamp or drops a torch in the confusion. Also, FF is not like other forts in MW, I'm not sure if they mention how old/new it is, but it seems like it's fairly recent. Finally, the movie Ginger Snaps Back. If you are a fan of werewolves, movies set in earlier times, and hot Canadian actresses, and have not seen this movie, what have you been doing with your life?

In closing, I would say that I'm not asking anyone to build this, I'm just planting the seed of the idea so that anyone who thinks it's a cool idea might try it. However, if you would be willing to script the necessary dialogue changes (I'm guessing there would be some conflict with the quests as written and a new structural layout) and deal with any other issues of that nature, I am just beginning to learn interiors/exteriors (made my first shack a few weeks ago) and would be happy to try and do the actual building myself. I'm not sure what textures or blocks the game has for wooden walls, but I imagine the buildings themselves would be of standard Imperial/Raven Rock structures. If this mod were to be finished, I would hope to find some way to script a new quest wherein you are at the fort while it is under attack, and assist in the defense. I'm guessing it would replace the defense of Thirsk.

To whet your interest, here are screens from the movie of what I imagine Frostmoth to look like.

Yea of course you can. Like I said, this isn't my mod, just something I thought could use doin'. If you have any questions or need suggestions, you can always post them in this thread or PM me. I will probably suggest stuff (design wise, not like "oh yea and add this and this and this) but any work you do is all yours, unless your unable to finish it, and I would request that you make any work you've done available either to myself or other interested parties. Also, be willing to share this project if someone else has an interest in it (although, like I said, it's yours, so it's really between you and them) I may actually do some ext/int anyway, just for the experience, but obviously you could use anything I upload that you wanted/needed.

And no, I haven't seen Outlander but I remember really wanting to, and I was literally just youtubing the 13th Warrior and Valhalla Rising, trying to think of a good viking movie I haven't seen yet. Will check it out pronto.

Just watched the Outlander trailer. Jim Caviezel was the man in Count of Monte Cristo. Definitely finding a copy to rent or buy.

But those look awesome. Any ideas on the fence? I figure the defensive ramparts inside could easily be made using the wooden dock meshes, and the buildings could be made from Imperial buildings. I'm not sure if the Raven Rock houses have different textures than say, the Imperial buildings in Caldera, but I think the bare timber would be better than the plaster covered half-timber. I would avoid using the Nord buildings just so that it is unique from Skaal and Thirsk. Or for the two story buildings, if there's nothing in the Imperial textures, wooden Nord bases and the plaster/timber texture for the second story.

And I'd definitely be happy to make some interiors. I'd try to make the buildings as anologous to the current FF structure, ie, the Captain's quarters and the dude from Raven Rock would be on the second floor of the main building.

I'll have to look at the layout again, looks like the main hall is actually off to the left, and there's a "guest quarters" where the RR guy is...ideally the back rampart would be as open as possible because that's presumably where the werewolves would attack from, off course they could also burst through the gate...

i can easily retexure up some new Nord things, i'll try to make it look as unique as possible.
i have an old wooden fort resource that i'll use, wish i could use skyrim's stuff now, but i have to wait until it's 1st map is released so maybe when it is the mod can be "remade" :P
but that resource will fit prefectly, gonna see if i can find some straw roof "round" houses, http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/lewis/norsemill/images/mill-450.jpg
