(REQ) for a weird mod

Let me preface this with an apology; my subconscious is WEIRD.

Keep in mind that this was a dream, so the things I say may not make a lot of sense.

I had a dream awhile back. I was playing with and modding Morrowind. I was talking to one of the developers (or the only developer, according to my dream) of the Morrowind Unofficial Patch, and he was telling me how he liked to mess around with the game as a joke sometimes. This time he had flagged rats as a flying creature. However, this managed to break the physics of the game. So I was trying it out and I came to a certain point where there was supposed to be a rat. There were some NPCs nearby and suddenly their heads turned towards me creepily, they stuck their arms straight in the air and all began yelling "BIRD! BIRD!" and running towards me. When they got to me, the game crashed and I woke up.

So, I thought a mod that made all the NPCs in an area do that would be hilarious. I'm sure nobody really wants to do it, but hey, I woke up and said "um, brain, WHAT was that?" and laughed a lot.

Tada.

Ok, not as weird as I expected.

When I first saw the headline I was worried that this was going to be a request for a furry companion mod.

It's too bad I'm rubbish at the CS, because a flying rat companion mod sounds like an interesting idea. Make it for mages/Telvanni, throw in a quest to get it, and feed it cheese.

I've done about zero modding, but it seems like you could just use the cliffracer script attached to a rat model...switch out the sound files, too. As for getting NPCs to react that way, that would take actual animating/voice acting.

Actually making a flying rat is as easy as simply ticking the box in the CS that says it can fly.

Script that makes a cliffracer a cliffracer does not exist. :P Model's animation and "flies" option ticked in CS is what does.

Thus the easiest way is as Tarius said, tick "flies", and untick "walks" and you're set. (if you're satisfied with rat looking like it's running in the air instead of flying that is, if not tough luck).

For the NPCs, you could probably go the metro route and give them dancing animation that activates when the rat is near enough, and record yourself and 2 friends multivocally singing "Bird! Bird! Bird!" with glam power chords in the background. I reckon that will make the situation silly enough. :P
