{REQ} Killing people is good for your karma?

Post » Tue Sep 28, 2010 1:31 am

I'd like to make, or have some one make, a mod that either SERIOUSLY reduced the karma you get for killing bad people (such as powder puff gangers), or to give no karma at all.

When i was done going through the first encampment, i was like "well WTF" since my goal was to remain neutral, and suddenly i'm "very good" ... oh... okay... Just slaughtered their entire town, i feel wonderful now...

Rather, instead of giving karma, it should give rep or something... or just nothing at all... I just dont want to be getting goodness for killing things, since i do it way too much...

Agreed wholeheartedly.

Of course, since I have next to no modding experience I wouldn't do the best job creating this mod, but the idea makes so much sense. I made a new save recently trying to be neutral/evil, and for my character that meant saying "[censored] you" to both Goodsprings AND the powder gangers. Of course, because of the silly karma boost you get from killing them I ended up as a good character. Fortunately karma doesn't affect that much in this game, but this is something I definitely want for New Vegas, just for that wholesome roleplay experience.

Well, not sure if it helps, but I am using http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37546 mod which pretty much removes the karma boost you get for killing random trash in the Wasteland.

have you ever talkedw with any of the powdergangers, or the ones that held themselves up in whatever vault that was.

they all stated that they killed, robbed, maimed, and what else.

So I killed a criminal after they took over after killing their way out of jail

like the mohave wasteland is going to miss a few scumballs

I like this idea, and would like to see it.

Getting karma for killing bad people is just the kind of childish morality we've come to expect from mainstream RPG makers.

what effect does karma have anyway, if any? the concept of karma is just stupid, and since Fallout pretends to be set in the real world, I don't think it has any place.
