(Req) Unique Landscapes equivalent for Morrowind

Post » Fri Apr 10, 2015 4:56 am

I see a lot of attempts on making the settlements come alive in mods such as Rebirth, Balmora Expanded...etc. But so far, I have only seen one WIP of overhauling the actual regions.

Oblivion's Unique Landscapes mod adds a whole variety of amazing locations in Cyrodiil as well as other cool and lore-friendly landmarks. This is a video of some of the detailed landscapes that modders have made - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCxVoyiSVFI

So it may be a big request, considering how time-consuming it would take, but I would really love to see more detail in Morrowind's landscapes. Even if it's only a small portion of Vvardenfell :)

If there were an equivalent UL mod for Morrowind then I would definitely use it. Good idea Envy!

Thank you :)

And the vanilla landscapes do need cliffs. Right now, it's mainly textured heightmap and TR has a lot of very good cliff resources.

Have you posted this request on TAL yet, since you already have a project forum there?

No, more Morrowind modders are here than on TAL :)

Of course they are more modders here, but I think it could be convenient if there was a place the development for this mod was hosted.

Little changes here & there might work but radically changing the landscape on a broad scale would be incompatible with so many of mods..... years & years worth.

Thats a non-issue for me. More detail on Vvardenfell would be appreciated but tons of work. Didnt happen in 10+ years (except unfinished MDP), dont think it will happen now. Would be awesome tho.

Maybe not for you. But if a Morrowind UL mod conflicted with any of my long-standing favorite mods and if there were no patches available I would not use it.

Good point about separate mod patches for mod compatibility.

Yeah, I think that if there was a UL mod for Morrowind, the modder should be able to make compatibility patches. Oblivion's UL has a lot of patches and these are made by the team members themselves (in most cases, I made some compatibility patches myself for my mod as well).

And I personally think that until OpenMW reaches 1.0, landscape changes can't be as vast as Oblivion's UL. For example, we can't get different water other than the default.
