I can't find the right objects to create my own creative version of slanted shelves (the little piece at the edge to keep the things from sliding off is the issue). To get an idea of what I am interested in, if you look in the GECK and search for the Automat01, the shelves in there are perfect. I can't rip them out of the machine with nifskope cause it is all one mesh :( It would be great if that shelf feature can be made like the ShelvesMetal01 (only the slanted shelves of the Automat01). There could even be a ShelvesWooden01 version as well.

I really think the community is in dire need of more display pieces, so that we can display our guns and other treasures proudly. Can't put those things on high flat shelves cause we can't see them :P

Thank you!

Are you talking about the angled shelves in the food dispensers?

Yes, the http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Eat%27o%27tronic_3000 activator that you see in places like the tenpenny tower or some of the metros :)

Agreed. Alas I'm in no position to help, but will at least add my own voice to those wanting more resources designed for "displaying purposes". :)

Yes! The one on the right is exactly what I had in mind :touched: It looks like the edge would be just enough so that objects wouldn't slide off it either! I am more than willing to be a tester, if you will need one. Oh my goodness, thank you so much for attempting this :hugs:

Oh, them would of been so cool to have. I can see a whole room full of slanted shelves like that with all the books on display. A case for each type or something of the sort.

I got a sneak peak at 2 models that falcon8204 made, and I am very impressed  One is the slanted shelf version that allows you to hold 7 books per shelf (think there are 5 slanted shelves). The other is a very nice shelf that looks like it belongs in the tenpenny tower, very elegant looking! It doesn't have the slanted shelves, but it is still a must have resource piece!

We are going to need someone to make UV maps for them. I can find the right textures for them, but I have never dealt with making any sort of UV map. Would anyone be interested in this task?

Hope he doesn't mind, but I have to post the picture http://picasaweb.google.com/Falcon8204/FO3Screenshots#5445417752097534610 (the books on the self are only there to show you the size, they don't come with the shelf)

Very nice looking indeed.

Alas I'm no help when it comes to such things, but I'm certainly looking forward to this as a released resource. :)

well, after much trials and tribulations (read: noob moments :D) i've finally got the slanted shelf in-game. see:

http://picasaweb.google.com/Falcon8204/MiscModels#5447907315628529346, and http://picasaweb.google.com/Falcon8204/MiscModels#5447907315286104194.

i'll send it to miss sparkle for testing first, since she originally requested it. :) after that i guess i'll just release it as a resource. i think the shelves would work better with 4 instead of five; i had some trouble getting one of my weapons on it, and gave up after a few minutes of trying, so some additional testing may be in order. i think the feng shui mod will come in very handy here. :D

cheers

I got the file falcon8204 :D I just reformatted my computer 2 days ago and everything is all set up to install Fallout 3 again. I will do this tonight, and by tomorrow I should have a nice little texture for the shelf, and some testing feedback for you!

Will this still need a UV Map as well? I have had experience with editing them, just never made one. Either way I will look at the file and see what I can do! I am soooo excited! Thank you so very much for your time with this project, it is going to be very welcomed, I am positive!

More testing done. Got 2 new files today to test out :) The 5 shelf I did the texture myself as a little test, it needs work though. The 4 shelf is the same texture as the wood shelf in the game just to show what it would look like if you changed it to that. I will make the textures for both shelf when they are ready for release.

Now, these items I placed on the shelves in the game using my z key only. It was fairly simple to do, and I didn't even run into things falling off the shelf once I already placed them. If you see items raised, that is cause of the collision on those items, not the shelf. The shelf collision is very tight, very perfect as a matter of fact.

Big items you will have a problem with (dart gun as an example, and other things on the floor, even that camera) so you will need to use the item placing mod for that.

I completed 2 textures for the 4 shelf and the 5 shelf. I already packaged everything up and sent them to falcon8204. He may hold off on releasing until the whole set is complete cause there is talk of something else being made as well.

Here are the 2 textures that I made -
http://yfrog.com/0oscreenshot7qpp
http://yfrog.com/3oscreenshot5dzp

As you can see, I tried to make them match as close as possible to the other common furniture pieces.

Are there any texture requests? The best thing to do is to tell me the item in the game that you want the shelf color to match.

That is awesome. I'd love to add that to my player house. Would also be nice to have one using a similar texture as ShelvesWoodenShelf01 for a more natural/faded look. :tops:

Those are great! I've had an itch to start on something new of late, and I think these will be a nice addition. Were you also going to do a metal version?

@ VaiN - The ShelvesWoodenShelf01 texture is the same texture used for the light vanilla shelf in the picture. The UV map is around an area that doesn't look like it is too beat up :) It looks funny if I use that same texture on these shelves though. I will play around with it and try to create a more beat up look.

@ Balok - I have attempted to make a texture for metal :) I just haven't finalized it cause I want to make it a bit more beat up/dirty look.

Thank you both for the replys!

Slanted Shelves Resource: http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=11816 is now available to be downloaded :)

A huge thanks goes out to falcon8204, because without him, we wouldn't have these! He gave me permission to go ahead and release these.

Please feel free to make your own textures, but please don't forget to give falcon8204 the credit for the Mesh and the UV Map.

You are welcome :) falcon8204 is away for a few weeks, but when he comes back, there may be more shelves that will be added.

This resource is already added to http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=9679 mod! So if anyone is waiting for a mod to try out the Slanted Shelves, check this one out :)

3 cheers for falcon8204! I just got a file for 3 more shelves to make textures for! 2 of the 3 have a bigger bottom ledge so that you may place your big weapons onto!

I have to thank malkion at Nexus for requesting this :)

So, what is the 3rd shelf? Lets just say, if you are evil, and an oblivion fan, you will love it :obliviongate:

I bring you images :) I have tested the new Slanted Shelves with a wider ledge and they work great! There is work being done for even another set that will fit the really big guns such as the flamer.

Now that I have tested these, I just need to apply all the texture sets to them, and soon I can put them up on the download page for everyone to have :hubbahubba:

[Edit] The 2 new shelves are up on the download page with all the textures as the original slanted shelves resource has. The oblivion one I am not putting up tonight. I would still like to work on the textures a bit before I release them :)
