Requesting Mod Forums please!

As you can see, the Fallout 4 Nexus already has 33 pages of mods for Fallout 4, despite the lack of modding tools.

Please add a modding forum so we may begin discussing these and any future/planned projects can set up their threads. That way the mod discussions won't clog up the General Discussion forum either!

I sent a PM to GStaff over the weekend asking him to set up a mods forum for Fallout 4. He replied and said it was something they might be able to set up this week.

IMO, I think it really should wait until there are official tools available. Otherwise it had a tendency to encourage the production of ESP files using tools that have no chance of producing valid output. History does not need to repeat itself, and Bethesda probably should not be encouraging that to happen either.

The only way for history to not repeat itself is for Bethesda to have a game and its GECK/CK/whatever available on the same day, so that no one even has time to resort to making their own modding tools. And it's obviously too late for that, so better just accept the inevitable.

Unfortunately "wait for the official tools" as usual is ignored, texture work is one thing that should be fine? but we could see problems as with previous games and non official utilities, though maybe a Mod's Forum may help players share know issues with any of these early releases, plus having Mod suggestions in one specific place might be better?

PS: @ Arthmoor, unification day, nice and thank you, BW

Just because people jumped the gun (again) doesn't make it acceptable. It's most definitely not, because the same mess will need to be cleaned up as last time.

Like I said, it's too late to do anything about it, and the steps necessary to preventing this weren't ours to take anyway. Best to just get over it.

If the mod forums are opened prior to the CK, then there should be a sticky titled "Please Read This First: A Warning About Pre-G.E.C.K. Mods" and then followed by an explaination that 1) As with Skyrim, pre-CK mods (ESMs and ESPs) have been proven to cause damage to your game, which is not always apparent or the effect is not always immediate, so use them at your own peril. 2) Bug reports from users that use pre-G.E.C.K mods are to be considered invalid and ignored.

Maybe someone like Arthmoor, or someone on the *Edit team should suggest this to GStaff? At the very least, we can at least have a player base that is more informed on the matter.

I know I won't be modding until the G.E.C.K. is out, I want my 1st character to last and be untainted by faulty mods, unless it is textures/meshes, or something like ENB/ENBoost/ReShade. I regret not waiting to add them and didn't find out about how bad pre-CK tools were until it was too late.
