Those are the suggested requirements to play it very high with a gigh res and good aa and af. The I7 is Intels current No.1 processor series for homecomputers. They are the direct successors to the Core 2 Quad generation. And if you dont have any clue about hardware in general, you should probably thinking of buying a console and the console version of Crysis 2.

I used to be a PC assembler but im out to date. I still think that PC is better than any console.

an i7 is overpriced and pretty much similar to the phenom II series in terms of gaming (although they do have some major power going for them, but the extra cost of these high end parts is silly), but that's for another thread :D

Basically the specs used are pretty outdated by todays standards, so if the game can run at 60fps, it shows that this game will run well for anybody who could even load crysis 1.

It's a nice tradeoff of making the maps smaller for the console version and also some optimisations to the engine. Sure, i'd love a balls kickingly awesome sequel with loads of different terrains and environments to show the world impact of the invasion and environmental deformation, physics up the arse and amazingly intelligent AI, but that's what you get for fantasising about the sequel to the most demanding pc game of all time :P

These are all just suggestions.. the MP is developed by another team.
They could have optimized it more than the ones who work with the SP.
And for the SP we have very different statements from Crytek and the pesspeople who played it on E3.

So its not a "sure" thing to talk about.

I have a 260 and an i5 661 Dual Core @ 3.33ghz... Is that decent enough to play this at 1680x1050?

I'd imagine a gtx260 and a dual core at that speed probably can play at 1680x1050 at medium/high without much of an issue though talon, rysis 1 runs fine on that system i'd imagine.

STOP TAUNTING US WITH YOUR ADVANCED HARDWARE!
But yes that'd run Crysis 2 at max settings, and much more.

Crytek said a few months ago they "reccomend" the following for use in the editor:

Core i7
4gb RAM
GTX 200 series (GTX 260 and 280 mentioned as examples)
64-bit OS

We do know that the editor will use MORE computing power than the actual game, so basically if you have a rig with those specs, it should run fine @ max. However, we DONT know what resolution that was at. Im assuming a decent resolution, and my calculations of on-screen editor footage puts the screen @ 1280x1024.

^ Forgot to add:

The core i7 is Intel's consumer flagship CPU, and currently the fasts CPU available. They range from i7 920 / 930 (almost the same, depending on availability) all the way up to the 980x, which runs 6 physical cores with hyper threading, allowing for 12 simultaneous threads.

Well I've got a GTX 470 and 4GB RAM and also a core 2 duo 3.0 GHz. Is that a bottleneck ? And would Crysis 2 run properly at very high at 1600x900 ? I think it will but still...

i have an ATI 5870, intel i7 920 overclocked to 4GHz, 6GB of g skill ram, and of course a liquid cooling system for CPU ( with that i had no trouble overclocking the CPU to 4GHz, it stays nice and cool at 30-45C. i think i should have no trouble playing crysis 2, or any game at all :)

[/quote]It's not advanced, from a gamer's perspective, the 260 is mere garbage at times.

it may be half as good as the best, but it's still 5 times better than consoles, so it'll be fine.
