Hi-Res Trailer Pics

Here are some pics I got from an HD version of the trailer. All credits obviously go to Bethesda.

Nice the game is looking so good, even when the camera closes up on characters. And the lightning and shadows steal the show!

What lightning?

first pic is of the crappy water - the worst part of the trailer

I wish someone would take a screen of 1:44 or if you look at the town screen you can see the actual water in it. The water in the "waterfalls" which aren't waterfalls at all, isn't the water in the game, it's white water rapids, which looks like they are supposed to. The actual water in the game looks great and you can see it multiple times throughout the trailer but people just ignore it and look at the white water rapids and say "duhr huhr that isn't water, it isn't see-through." It's white water, of course it isn't see through and looks great for white water. Actual water in the game looks great and it doesn't even have full reflections like it will on the PC.

Yes yes I know. I just found it humorous that the first picture was of the most heavily criticised bit.

Some animated trailer pics:

They look better than in the actual trailer though. I remember a time when games used to have smooth animations. what the hell happened?

My favorite scene is of the Bosmer sneaking through the forest, stalking the deer. SO damn good looking.

Technically 720 is the bottom line HD. It's technically still HD. I wish I could get ahold of a true 1080p version of the trailer, I would love to set it as my screensaver, sound and all.

Sorry to disappoint, but HD can be the size of a thumbnail. It is just in reference to the resolution, not the size.

The size is the resolution, though. Looking back at the trailer, though, we don't actually *have* any higher resolution footage, so you've done as well as could possibly be done :P

Well HD is set to the resolution. The value is set to the bottom line of the resolution. So if the picture is 1990 X 1080, it's 1080, so it's true HD. If the picture resolution is 1660x720, it's still HD but it's only 720 and so on. But then you can scale down that picture if you want.

The term "True HD" is a huge pet peeve of mine. 1920x1080 isn't even the largest screen you can currently buy, and in the future it won't even be considered large - what are we going to call bigger screens? Well, the planned marketing term is Ultra HD. What after that? And after that? It's stupidity itself!

It's True HD in the sense of the actual standard of HD. 720 is like bargain brand HD and 1080+ is where it is really HD. It's not meaning it's the perfect HD.

Yes, I understand the term, I just think it's utter rubbish. Even now, "HD" isn't all that impressive, it's giving an absolute term to a quickly evolving field. It just doesn't work. Surely HD TVs are standard now? So what's SD? Is HD SD now? What about in 5 years time, when 1920x1080 is what 1024x768 is today?

The town/city with the water wheel looks stunning.

And like other have said...that waterfall is a white water rapid fall it's SUPPOSED to look foamy and like that. The other regular water looks fine like the water in that cave.
