[WIPz] Resource Projects

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 3:31 pm

I've been working on a bunch of little things that I'll probably package up and release as resources. I wanted to post some pictures of what I've got so far, and I'd appreciate feedback: your thoughts and any suggestions you have are always appreciated.

NEWS: Yay! Big thanks to Rattfink333 for fixing the Morag Tong Cuirass.

Just want to say first off that all of these look amazing. As to how you want to release them is obviously your choice. If you feel like they would fit well into your balance mod, put them there; otherwise, I can speak for myself and say that I love resources :)

In regards to critique: I'm not too sure how keen I am on the ebony warhammer just being a retextured iron warhammer. And the ordinator weapons: for some reason it just looks funny to me to have the weapon edges be textured with their yellow armor color. Though more so on the hammer. But if I look at it a little longer it may look better.

Sorry I can't help with the cuirass issue, I'm not very good with anything cuirass/physiquing related.

If I notice anything else I'll let you know. Keep up the good work Alaisiagae :goodjob:

Thanks, fixed the link to the steel weapons. :)

As for the ebony warhammer - unfortunately, there are only a few warhammer head meshes available that I can use. It does use the iron whammer head, but the shaft and grip are from another mesh.

Forgot to update that first paragraph - I'm planning to release these as resources. The Dragonscale is probably going to be the first one. I'd like more feedback on the Duke and Silver armors - how does the chainmail look?

EDIT: Yeah, I know, the Indoril isn't 100% to my liking either. I don't have any gold-colored blade textures, or anything that screams out "ORDINATOR!" at me.

Your welcome :D

Ah, yes I see that now. Hmmm, for some reason though. That iron warhammer mesh is so individual looking. I can't get around it. But that's just me, as long as you are happy with its ebonyness, then we're good!

Oh, OK. You know I am not entirely sure of the realism invloved, but I still think I like the leather pants you had on the silver armor before.

I know you like to use vanilla textures....

I personally like all your work. It doesn't change the feel of the game. :)

As for resources, if it weren't for talented people like yourself, I doubt I could have ever made anything worth releasing.

A big thank you to all who release resource files!

Nice work so far, the Duke's armor and the Silver armor should fit in nicely into Morrowind.
However, I personally do not like the pauldrons of the dragonscale armor. IMO they misfit to the rest of the armor cause they do not seem to be scales, but look like a bunch of feathers put onto one's shoulder. This might come from using the dwemer pauldron mesh as a basis for them.
Have you perhaps thought about altering the ebony mesh for the dragonscale-set instead?

Wouldn't ebony weapons with an increased amount of golden ornamentation and coupled with some sort of blue-coloured leather/cloth on the hilt do the trick of serving as Ordinator weapons just fine? Also, may I suggest using the 6th House Bell Hammer mesh as the basis for the warhammer instead of whatever hammer it is currently based on? If re-textured, it seems as if it would fit the Ordinators surprisingly well, I think.

Anyway, awesome work. I especially like the halberds, the silver armour sets and the Dagoth Dagger. Too bad you only intend to release these as resources, but I suppose someone'll get around to implementing them into the game eventually.

I am already thinking about it :D

Great stuff here, love the silver armor! And the glass weapons, glas was always my favorite.

if you can package up that curiass. i can probably get it fixed using nifskope. looks like the sash needs to 180 and be brought down. then move pouches back some.

i saw what happened. when you slapped the mesh together. it had too many nodes. so i gave importing and exporting out of blender a shot. and it fixed up all the nodes to a proper root. so here is the fixed mesh. http://www.zshare.net/download/81706685f0178ad0/. let me know if you have any problems. i checked it out in the cs. and it worked there.

One suggestion, with regards to the male gold cuirass, could the face be moved up more? Even though the front is flat now, the eyes on the face are still supposed to cover the chest-- on yours, they seem to be lower than they maybe should be.

It's been a really busy week, and I'm not sure it is going to get any less busy over the next few days. :dead:

Thanks for the feedback, Saint_Jiub, I'll see what I can do (when I have some time) and post screenies.

Looking at the Dwemer statues featured in Morrowind, there was one thing I couldn't help but notice; they wield halberds, but they don't look anything like the actual Dwarven Halberd weapons. Maybe you could create an alternate Dwarven halberd modelled after the ones wielded by the statues? Unlike the vanilla halberd, it actually looks like an actual weapon of war rather than some sort of weird fishing tool, heh.

The original Dwarven Halberd does not look like a halberd, and according to the definition of a halberd, it is not - in fact - a halberd. What I meant to suggest in my previous post was not to make the statues match the weapon, but to make a weapon to match the statues. While what is essentially a mutant brass-coloured naginata isn't a *bad* weapon per se, I'd still prefer to wield an actual halberd rather than the ones featured in-game.

I hope you're still planning on releasing the rest of the items that you've made so far, they look really great! I'm especially looking forward to using the dagger in the steel weapons picture. I've been looking for that exact weapon, since I've been wanting to use the throwing knife from Tamriel Rebuilt that uses the same model, but I have no idea how to flip the model around to use as a normal dagger :D

Yes, but my RELz thread got pruned, and I'm sure any new thread would meet a similar fate eventually. :P BHR is updated, too.

I have so much stuff sitting on my harddrive. :bonk: I don't want to make icons, that's why I haven't packed up anything. I also need to test stuff in-game, which means putting them in the CS, which is a similarly odious task compared to, say, playing video games or making more stuff in Nifskope. Which means that if anyone wants to collaborate.... :deal:

What do I have?
I have a guarskin drum, several other drums (like a nordic drum)
a retexed Bitter Cup (uses blue bottle textures) to be the Waters of Life
misc. pieces of armor that I don't have screenies of, including actually using the bear creature textures on the bear helms instead of the bear helm texture (I'm very proud of myself for that feat)
new ingredients, including having the BM pelts and hides actually use the creature textures
and oodles of mesh fixes for lots of stuff

tell you what, i have no problems with the cs. and icons are dead easy. so pm me with a link to what you want worked on and how you want it ingame and i will send you back finished files. if you want, check out how i worked the morag tong resource you released on PES into the game. its on PES as well under the tongs armor. i like dinking around in the cs. and things are a little slow at DOHR at the moment. and i am just plunking away at my spectral isle mod. so i have some spare time right now.
