Resources seem to be spent faster when phone's asleep

I've noticed that when collecting resources, they're spent far faster when the phone's asleep than if I leave the game open. Seems the only way I can get my bars out of the red is to constantly collect and make sure my phone doesn't sleep at all. Is it supposed to be like that? If so, I might as well give up now because I can't keep playing like this.

Resources are used for a short time after you turn off the game and then they should stop completely. Not sure how long it is, but try putting it away for at least 15 minutes. I rarely come back with my resources dented.

Are you actually closing down the game app, not just minimizing it?

MadCat221: I minimize the game app on my phone. It auto shuts down after a certain length of inactivity. I always have to wait for it to load my vault back up. Using a Samsung Galaxy S6

Ok, I'll try to see how bad it is if I leave it off overnight. I'm expecting everyone to be dead when I wake up. :P

I think when you're away from the game, the balance between resources used & resources generated are dependant on the stat levels of your dwellers in those resource rooms. So, for the power generating rooms, if the majority of your dwellers in those rooms are low(ish) on Strength, when you come back to the game after a while, you will find your power very low. Of course, you also need enough Power rooms to meet demand. What this means is that you shouldn't rush to send dwellers out to the wasteland, nor should you create loads of training rooms early on, because you will de-staffing the resource rooms. It requires a careful balance.

In short, if your resources are in the red when you return to the game, move some dwellers from elsewhere with high stats for that resource into the relevant rooms and you should find the situation improves. Once you're at that stage, you can then worry about training dwellers etc.
