Response to results of 2nd Patch

Post » Mon Jun 07, 2010 11:23 pm

I don't have to tell you things are bad. Everybody knows things are bad. It's a Bethesda game launch. Everybody's crashing after five minutes or scared of losing their saves. Your $50 bought you a nickels worth of a game; prefrences aren't sticking; NPCs keep a gun pointed at you at all times; glitches are running wild in the code, and there's nobody anywhere who seems to know what to do, and there's no end to it!

We know the DirectX .dlls for the game are unfit to run on any computer and our(any) computers are unfit to run the Gamebyro engine. And we sit reading our forums while some internet blogger tells us that today we had fifteen patches and sixty-three CTDs, as if that's the way it's supposed to be!

We all know things are bad -- worse than bad -- they're crazy.

It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out any more. We sit in the house, and slowly our game Q/A gets worse and worse, and all we say is "Blame Bethesda, blame Obsidian! blame Steam! but leave me alone!"

Well, I'm not going to leave you alone.

I want you to get mad!

I don't want you to protest. I don't want you to riot. I don't want you to write to a Bethesda CEO, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the glitches and the CTDs and the mouse acceleration and the NPC slowdowns.

All I know is that first, you've got to get mad.

You've gotta say, "I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!"

So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the phone, dial Bethesda( (301) 926-8300), and yell,

"I'm as mad as hell,

and I'm not going to take this anymore!!"

That would be funny to all call Bethesda at once.

But their studios would probably lag because there phone robot doesn't have the correct dll file in it's program directory.

And then the phone line would crash because answering robot's script was messed up.

And once that's all said and done any saved message recordings would get replaced by an earlier recording from pre-release that says: "I can't wait for this new Fallout to be released Bethesda! I WUV YOU! I HOPE YOU WUV MY FITTY DOLLAS THAT I PAID UP FRONT FOR YOUR SWEETMEGASUPERAWSOMEULTRA GAME!"

See what I did there?

Huh.

I've had no issues whatsoever with any versions of the game. No crashes, freezes, or bugs(at least noticeable ones). Guess I am lucky.

Had the game crash to the desktop twice in the first 2 hours of playing, and not once since in the almost 7 hours I've been playing. That's a far better record than I had with Fallout 3 when it first came out.

My game works perfectly fine...

Btw, that lines from a song either made or mixed by tiesto, i think called Zoo York. Its on the Great Wall disk whatever it is. Good album if your into the genera.

:goodjob:

BTW, if thats his real number (which would be hilarious) you kinda just put a bullet in the wrong person and made their day hell. The bloody fools who MADE the game should be getting all the fire. I find it funny that everyone insists on blaming poor gamesas of whom had nothing to do with the development of NV (and did a good job on FO3)

Same. So far so good. I do feel bad for the folks having problems, though. They've announced that they're working on them, so I guess we can look forward to some fixes soon.

Also, people need to verify their game files after patches. It seems like corrupt files are causing a lot of the crashes on startup after patches.

sigh, a few annoying bugs for me are it forgets my quick saves and auto saves, sometimes when i look down the sights of a gun and then go back to normal i can't shoot my gun until i rezoom.

NPC companions don't listen, they will pull out whatever weapon they want. won't keep distance if i tell them and engage in combat with critters out of my way when im just trying to travel down the road. I mostly just keep them at my hotel to store things.

No problems here but the save game bug...going to delete a bunch tomorrow.

I did have to use the dx9.dll trick and force AA and AF in CCC... but it runs fine otherwise.
