A Response

{Dreamsleeve Transmission sent over uncrypted temporal cords}

-query would, in the times before the walking star came to our shores and assaulted us across decades within instants, result in your immediate Correction. However, as a lesser Justiciar you have been exposed to the Temporal Myth more than was perhaps safe at your age and this is supported by the wording of your query, so a verbal response and a stern initial final warning will be filed to you and under our records.

The exact wording of your query is problematic: “As Time is needed for there to be any change, does that not make Auri-El, too, an Adversarial figure to be mythically undone?”

This folly is reminiscent of the false thinking of the Upstart and his Temporal Myth, and is why I believe your problem is overexposure rather than heretical tendencies. Further proof of the danger of the Contagion and why it must be worked to be reduced and finally cured. Stasis must exist over time to be true stasis, or else it is nothing. Stasis is a lack of change, which requires time, and a lack of change is maintaining sameness throughout a period of time between two points. Without time, one has not changed, but one has also not avoided change, and so has not achieved stasis, merely nothing.

Therefore, in order to achieve stasis, one must have the option of change to be resisted. This is the danger of true stasis, as you have seen far better than many your age what happens when that weed goes uninhibited too long.

Your Initial Final Warning has been filed, and this will be submitted to archives in order to ensure the organization is aware of the possibility of infection by the Temporal Myth within the Justiciary itself.

I can't help but snicker at the "Initial Final Warning." I'm also amused by the idea that a higher-ranking Justiciar was caught out by regulations and executed by his superiors when he was working on their behalf. I shouldn't be amused, I guess, but I am.

He wasn't executed, he was corrected. There were just no survivors.

Well, perhaps execution wasn't the intention as much as the inevitable side-effect. Still, same idea.

A fun read. :smile:

Though of course philosophically the absence of change of any sort prohibits the passage of time. Time is change.

Time has to be able to be measured to exist, it exists in relation to something, for instance the specific radioactive output of a cesium atom.

Once absolute stasis occurs time for all intents and purposes no longer passes, oherwise it would not be perfectly static.

Well that was kind of the thought this started from. I thought that, then thought what the nameless novice Justiciar thought about Auri-El, then wondered what the hugely conservative Thalmor organization would think if faced with that question. Then I wrote this entire thing in like two minutes at work.
