M'aiq is a fourth wall breaking character. an easter egg. This way, he is not subject to any form of rule. He could be alive or not, that depends on developers wishes.

A skeleton in a cave, grasping the coded journal of M'aiq the liar. If returned to his relative who you inadvertently meet at an inn, for the rest of the game he will pass on some new bit of wisdom found in his ancestors tome...

Why do they call him a lier? Most of what he said was true. "Who wants to see M'aiq naked? Sick, sick people."

Well an opinion can't be a lie.

In any case, he's called a liar because he was a liar in Morrowind right? In Oblivion he had pseudo-philosophical insights into requests fans made.

I think he could easily be M`aiq the Fifth or something if he's included. If he's not there I hope there's a M`aiq-like character.

Well, he tells the character about an underwater daedric ruin on the west coast, and also about the merchant mudcrab.

How long do the Kajit live? I think a few races live for a few hundred years.

what is the span of time between Morrowind and Oblivion? Just curious, with all these questions of Maiq's life expectancy etc. 200 years or so seperate The Oblivion Crisis from Skyrim, how many years seperated Morrowind and Oblivion?

6 years, but M'aiq doesn't recognize time. this annoys akatosh but he can only turn ordinary beings into Daedra, not back into Mythic folk.

Morrowind = 3E 427
Oblivion = 3E 433

so only 6 years

Of course M'aiq is dead. But to get an answer to the question "how did he die ?" I think we should ask to M'aiq. M'aiq knows how M'aiq died.

It is true that M'aiq died, but this truth was boring, so M'aiq decided to li(v)e...

M'aiq could have become a lich but yeah I think he's gone. Someone else will have to replace him, I vote an essential Male Imperial with Todd Howard's facial features.

Someone came up with an appropriate solution a while back...

"You should be careful around dragons. They are very fragile. M'aiq should know; he broke one and ended up here!"
