Restocking!

Post » Wed Oct 13, 2010 2:49 pm

Sorry if this is in Oblivion but I haven't noticed it. But don't you think in Skyrim if you ransack a store and sell it all away that the store should get new stock the next week or something. Cuz I hate when in Oblivion after I steal from slash n smash the first time I cant come back and do it again. And again. And again.

I don't think it is in OB, but it would make sense in Skyrim with the new AI and all. They say that people can inheritate shops, so why not have them replace stolen goods(and sell them at increased prices to make up for the lost money of course).

Or, you ransack the store, leaving the owner totally destitute with no money to buy new goods, causing him to hang himself. Nice going, ass.

There's a thread kind of like this that can be found http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1161257-replacing-shelfed-items/page__st__40__p__17052561__fromsearch__1#entry17052561.

I do think stores should restock. People restock in real life.

The quality of locks could improve as well, and they could hire NPC guards or add additional shopkeepers to increase the difficulty and consequences if they wanted.

I like the idea of robbing the shops. What I don't like the idea of is a naked world.

In Oblivion, I steal enough to make the fences happy, but the loot is mostly crap and I end up with baron shops all over the place, so I generally just steal stuff that I know re-spawns. None of it's good loot however. Stealing is more of a chore in the game than anything exciting. I don't really steal very often because it's kind of dumb.

Restocking in general would be nice for example you buy some stuff and they get new stock and it could be new to what they had before

I think there should be consequnces to your actions....

If you are a frequent purchaser the shop gets rich and gets better stock. :celebration:
If you are a frequent thief the shop goes broke and buys cheap goods or eventually closes. :nope:

im def all for restocking in both cases... when you buy something they should get new inventory eventually and if you keep going back like the poster above said they get richer and get better and more stuff...

and if you clean out a place they should restock and i do like the better lock idea, shows intelligence, if you get robed your not going to put the same lock on the door, and if you do then maybe you decide to hire a guard or something

Yes, that sounds more likely :P

I'd like to see forges & factories etc, and well-guarded trade wagons running supplies to the shops.

What's wrong with this picture:

You go to a cave or ruin where some bandits have decided to hang out, kill all the occupants, and loot the place to the bare walls. Three days later, you go back and there's a fresh set of faces and new items to take. Three more days and newcomers again, etc.

You then go and shoplift from a busy store that obviously turns over a lot of inventory, from the comments of the locals. The items are gone for good, and never replaced.

I'd consider the OB economy in need of serious help; no wonder the entire province is in a shambles. Hopefully, Skyrim will at least make some sense.
