Restoring deleted gamesas accounts

Post » Sat Jan 01, 2011 6:25 pm

Cry-Adam posted while ago about the delete function and that it should not be used to fix login system.
He did mention that many people have tried it to fix login issues and this has left a lot people with messed up accounts.
He didnt say what they will do about the accounts that were left messed up due to wrong usage of delete function.

So what im asking here is if any of the crytek admins happens to see this thread...
Will you/can you restore thoese people accounts who tried to fix login issues trough delete account button?

Thanks

I would also like to know since i got a verification mail on the emailaddress from my deleted account that i had succesfully redeemed my limited edition promo code, while i had already registered and logged onto a new account with a different username/emailaddress, most likely due to the messed up cookies/login thing.

I've already submitted a support ticket through the contact form but i assume they are really busy at the moment, but i feel that i am entitled to at least another promo code to (hopefully) register on my working account.

I would also like to add that the pop-up window with the warning that is shown in Adams post I did not get.
Im using firefox but I dont think such a window would have been be blocked by a pop-up blocker.
My idea is that this warning has been added later and would like to know if other people didnt get it around two days ago I deleted.
I pretty sure this option to delete has been added recently because ive been checking gamesas daily to get crysis 2 working and didnt see it before and was hoping it would have been the fix.

Yeah, same problem here unfortunately ;) I was not able to redeem my code before. But I for sure like to reconnect my username(I still can use ingame) with my webaccout. I just created a new account after waiting since friday(no warning back then) when I deleted my account. I did not get any response from the support team, I used the field on the bottom of the "Help & Support" page. I now did chat with a guy from the ea support team and after over half an hour trying he could not help. So now I have a new account.

It'd be very nice of the folks of crytek to let us poor souls know whether there will be a solution for our particular problem. A way of merging our in game account(username) with our web account.

And just to mention it, I am a crytek fan, a disappointed fan, but still a fan. Please get your databases in order, it is a great game, but our cloud seems to be a little to dark. ;)

As it says, these accounts can't be reinstated, the email address and username cannot be registered again. That's why there is a warning box that shows up and says it can't be reverted.

The warning box did not show up when i tried it.
Propably the reason why theres so many confused people with broken accounts now.

Sound pretty flawed system to me if the nickname and email are permanently "gone" and no way to restore it or clean it up from the system.

If this is true and there realy is no way to revert/fix the issue. Then i guess ill have to make another email and make up another *sigh* nickname (thats the hardest part)

I feel for thoese who lost their Limited edition code because of this.

Saved mine since i actualy expected issues like this after the issues with demo.

Why did Crytek add a ability to delete accounts and why give us this option now?
You cant clear your account name or e-mail, so thats not a reason to delete it.
I dont think any newsletter service is linked to gamesas account all the mail I got were newsletters I can just unsub from, so thats no reason to delete.
Crytek wanting to clean up there database cant be a reason because your still saving my e-mail and username, so that I cant make a new account.

Hope someone can answer my question what the use is of the delete option.
I can only think of the spiritual answer "I dont want to have a Mycryis account anymore".
Because there are zero practical reasons I can think of.

*Sorry but im going complete conspiracy theorists on this and will say that this are just my thoughts and I know nothing about online coding and account databases. Just hear from people that there is a link between gamespy and gamesas......

You tryed to fix the Crysis 2 login problem by giving people the option to delete there account and make a new one (because new accounts seem to work with Crysis 2). Then found out that when people deleted there account like mine named "HoM3R" could not make a new account because there was stil a link to a gamespy account wich you dont have the rights to delete.

Also would like to add that the warning wasnt there when I deleted and its not a problem with my browser or pop-up blocker because I see it now when I try to delete this account.

Well atleast new accounts work fine, its Ekido here btw.
Created new account and redeemed LE code just fine, can login ingame and webste perfectly.
Too bad its not much of help when MP is plagued with hackers and other bugs.
Hope the patch is gonna squash these bugs.

Thoese that cant redeem their code on new account should contact EA support for new code, i heard they are handing out them if you lost yours.

The same problem, i delete my account to make a new one with the same email adress. to fix the ingame log in problem. There was no Popup. Really!!!!
Ok after this, i saw the post to do not this. ;( So my Limited key and my email are gone, so i had to make
new account. Sometimes my old(limited) account is still loged in at the browser, i can change my password or something else. But if i want to login normal, or in the Game to get the Limited stuff, it doesn′t work.
my old account is: warbich.
Maybe you have an idea, or Restore my old account, or a new Limited Code?

Clear your all your browser history and cookie files and then reboot the browser, shouldnt enter your old account anymore.
Old cookies mes a lot of things on this website so thats the first thing you should do when starting new account.

After clearing cookies and logging in with your new account try redeeming LE code again.
If that doesnt work contant EA support and ask for new code.

What are the consecuences of not having a gamesas.com account, and play crysis 2 online?.

Because i can still login into multiplayer crysis 2 game.

That warning absolutely did NOT appear when I tried that option.

Seriously, there is no support for accounts here at all if this means I have to create a totally new account with entirely different registration information just to get to log in properly. When I created the account the first time "successfully", I was still totally unable to log in with it through the game.

The system is BROKEN, someone has to take responsibility for this and offer us some sort of support.

Atleast you wont be able to redeem promo-codes or view special content that will be implemented later.

I agree with winterblink tho, Cryteks account support is poor at best. They dont answer to the tickets sent to them and i got a confirmation from EA support employee that EA support does not have tools to control gamesas.com accounts.
If you are lucky you can get answer to forum post from Cry-Admin, thats pretty much it.

So, I'm curious here - I have this account, which I deleted without getting the warning pop up. You are telling us that these accounts cannot be restored.

The thing is - I have a working ingame account, tied to the same (now locked gamesas.com account). Does this mean that I will never be able to login to gamesas.com using my working ingame account, thus never being able to redeem my preorder DLC?

I do infact play MP on my working account and are leveling on that account - so please do not tell me to create an entire new account with an entirely new email address.

Furthermore the email address in question is my ONLY email address - I will NOT create a gmail or hotmail just to have it linked to Crysis 2. If I used an email for the sole purpose of this, what happens in a year or two, when I want to retrieve my account? The gmail/hotmail account would possible be closed due to inactivity...

I think the basic gist of the issue is this:

With the site and game authentication still in beta, they went live even though these issues were around during the game's open beta. With so many players already registered and playing multiplayer, they probably realize the only way to resolve the issue of cleaning up these dead accounts is to clear the database and start over. Option 2 would be for their customer service department (lol?) to field each request to reinstate or fix logon problems on an individual basis.

Since both require actual work on their part to fix the problem they went live with, they probably figure why bother and just set a policy that account issues won't be dealt with.

I mean, I have a LE code that I don't want to activate on another email address, nor do I want to create a whole new identity for myself when this is the one folks know me as, but they're basically saying "hey, we got your $60 bucks, why bother with you now?".

Just my guess, for what it's worth.

So - managed to "free" my email from my deleted account (THe_MaTRiX) and created this (THe_MaTRiX_DK). My new account now has a field to sync with my inGame account (both are using the same email) but I recieve this error message when I press submit in account settings: Invalid credentials for the InGame account

YES!!! I got my preorder content!!! I redeemed it on this account (WITH my one and only email address!!) and it is active on my inGame account (which has a different username than this account) :P

Well the solution envolved firebug - to free email address from old deleted account, and number of tries to link the inGame account (GameSpyId) to this gamesas.com account...

I can't believe all this hassle because of a broken (untestet) login system!

No thanks to the gamesas team though, I had to sit here and figure out all this crap by myself! PM'd them a few times, but no answer :s but no help from the gamesas team - AT ALL!

This is NOT true - I just did that! No thanks to you though!

EDIT: I registered a new account, with an email address from a deleted account.
