Deep within Raven Rock, in the very large auditorium-like space which served as the assembly area for all types of events held within the underground bunker, the entire military force of the Enclave now stood rank after rank: an impressive sight to behold. Soldiers from all divisions and departments were represented here, including the distinguished forces of Sigma Division.
Above and in front of this great assemblage, a large raised platform jutted out, upon which were seated the high command officials, including both Colonel Alan Sutler and Lt. Colonel Andrew Matthews as well as various others. Placed among them was a large display screen which, for the moment, was blank.
As the soldiers waited in silent anticipation looking up at the direction of the screen, suddenly a loud call went out from one of the commanding officers on the floor,
“Troops! Atten-tion!”
A great clattering was heard as the sounds of hundreds of boots snapping to attention filled the assembly area. Immediately following, the familiar tune of “Hail to the Chief” began playing, and the screen on the platform suddenly filled with a blue light, and white line stretching horizontally down the middle. Once it had ended, the charismatic and soft voice of President Eden began speaking to the assembled troops,
“My fellow Americans,” He began as he spoke to both to the soldiers and to the various numbers of citizens also watching, “the time of reclamation is at hand. In just a few short days, the United States Government will complete its preparations for the occupation of the region of wasteland which was once the capital of our great country. Under the command of the illustrious Colonel Alan Sutler, U.S. forces will sweep aside opposition and assume our rightful place as the authority of our former lands. We have waited years for this moment, for this most auspicious of events, and to commemorate what is to become our greatest triumph in recent history, today we look upon the brave men and women who will be the vanguard of this effort: The fine soldiers and officers of our armed forces. Join with me then, in cheering on our troops and showing them, that the citizens and people of the United States are ever supportive of their actions. To begin, I would like to present to you without further ado, Colonel Alan Sutler,”
"If I may build on what the President has stated," Sutler began, getting to his feet. "The period of reclamation is upon us compatriots, the moment to seize our freedom - here. It has been many years since the great tragedy struck and, finally, we can come close to achieving something close to what we could back then; for too long now have the mainlanders had their way on our soil and soon they shall feel the wrath of our vengeful hand. We..."
“..Thank you, Colonel Sutler,” Eden quickly said, continuing, “Soldiers of the United States, I speak now to all of you who now are about to take part in our operation to reclaim our capital. You are about to embark upon the Great Crusade, toward which we have striven these many months. The eyes of all America are upon you, and we send you all our well wishes and prayers. It is the fervent hope of all citizens of the United States, that you see this mission through and prove once again the tenacity of the American people. May God bless you all.”
