Resurrect Console Command Doesn't Work

Post » Sun Jan 16, 2011 8:39 pm

My wife is trying to activate Boone's quest with no luck (I didn't have any trouble activating it in my game) and one of the solutions posted in the wiki is to use the console command "resurrect" to res Aurelius of Phoenix (ref: 0012d6e2) and kill him over and over.

But it doesn't seem to be working, got this feedback:
Unknown variable '0012d6e2' for parameter Integer (Optional).
Compiled script not saved!

This is how she is entering the command:
resurrect 0012d6e2

Any help is appreciated,
JJ

EDIT: Figured it out. You have to go up to the corpse, open the console, click on the corpse so the name and reference number pop up at the top of the screen, then you enter the resurrect command. That wasn't confusing in the slightest...

Yes. Sometimes adding a 1 to the end of the command is helpful for something. I think maybe if the person died with a limb missing. Or to prevent them resurrecting under the ground, or to make them continue with their last AI package as if nothing had happened. Not sure. Guess it doesn't matter.
If he's vanished from the world altogether it's a little more complicated to bring him back. Just a few extra commands. But, glad you worked it out and you didn't need to do that :)

Or you can type prid "12d6e2" and hit enter. Then enter "disable", then "enable", then "kill", then "resurrect". You have to do it this way if you can't find the corpse.

-Gunny out.

Gunny has it right. Those are targeted commands and do not take a variable. They are expecting the Target ID to already be displayed at the top of the screen—either by the command or clicking on the object.

Other commands to consider are Toggle Combat AI (TCAI) and Toggle AI (TAI) for when the companion (or other scripted NPC) becomes unresponsive.

Remember also that the Kill and DIsable commands carry the possibility of wiping out the NPCs inventory

I see you edited your post but I'm going to leave these comments for others who will read this.

Resurrect 0 --> Resurrects them in an undamaged, renewed state.
Resurrect 1 --> Resurrects but does not reset the NPC. In Fallout 3 NPCs resurrected this way had a habit of falling through the floor.

Thanks.

I didn't know they did take a variable. I guess the 0 is assumed if it's left off using but required if the format given by the OP is used. I'll have to play around with that.
