Resurrected?

Did Bethesda resurrect the Fallout franchise?

That's my question, and the next part is really important that you understand.

I am not asking:
1. Did Bethesda resurrect the Fallout franchise in a good way?
2. Did Bethesda's reurrection of the Fallout franchise improve the said franchise?
3. Can Bethesda's resurrection of the Fallout franchise be justified?
4. Did Bethesda steal the franchise from Interplay?
5. Was the Fallout franchise even dead?

The five questions that I am not asking, are questions I do not want anyone to discuss. If they are discussed and that discussion were to blow out, I will ask a moderator to close this thread since this thread is not about them. If you feel like discussing the five questions I do not want to have discussed, then just simply ignore this thread, or do something else not on this thread. And please, stay civilized, we're not wild raiders in the Wasteland.

Also, I hope I posted this in the right forum...

If you ask me, yeah they did. Brought a franchise that was on hardly any life support, living only as a memory of the two titles, FO1 and FO2. Beth has effectively took at the breathing tube and made it learn to breath. Some say it can now run, others say it's a jog, and a bunch say it's just walking. Either way, it's moving and back to life and is being taken care of.

If they didn't resurrect it, they certanly made it popular again.

Fallout started off great, and then slowly went downhill from there- FO2, with so much pop-culture references that made it hard to take anyone in-game seriously, was actually deemed "good" compared to the tripe that followed it. Van Buren was supposed to resurrect it, but The Powers That Be said "No, we don't care if this game is popular and 90% done, we're making Tactics 2 and FO:BoS 2 because they made us money before. Screw the "old" fans- we'll just make new ones."

While FO3 has it's share of problems, certainly, we can't say that it's the absolute worst thing to happen to the series (that dishoner lies between the cancellation of Van Buren and the abomination that was FO:BoS- probably more of the former than the latter for this specific dishonor.) Heck, it's probably the 2nd best thing to happen to Fallout since the release of the first Fallout.

Bethesda (to a degree) resurrected it but Obsidian made it (somewhat) great again.

1. Yes.
2. I'm not sure I'd say improved. But I wouldn't say it's hurt the franchise either.
3. Yes. Interplay is a failed company with failed employees. gamesas had the talent and love to resurrect the franchsie. The Franchise could very well have completely disappeared or gone to someone like EA had gamesas not bought it.
4. No. gamesas bought it fair and square. Interplay disrespected the sale and is acting in bad faith in an attempt to get it's grubby hands on some more money. The Theiving bastards.
5. Yes. hell yes.

I guess you could say Bethesda resurrected Fallout, but I think it's more accurate to say they committed necromancy onto it. Cast some spells, invoked some dread rituals, sold some souls, sewed a few parts from other people games onto it, and did other deplorable acts that just mentioning would get me banned from these forums to create this horrid Promethean-Frankenstein's Monster-like thing! It is an unholy abomination, bearing only a superficial resemblance to the originals. But like Frankenstein, it's...still pretty badass and fun, so I like it in its own way.

Sure they did. I'm very sure those teens I heard on the bus talking about ARROYO wouldn't have mentioned that name if Bethesda hadn't brought the franchise back into the collective mind of teh interwebs.
