Retail Preorder Exclusives

Post » Fri Sep 23, 2011 4:45 pm

Will there be any exclusives from different retailers besides the EB games preorder bundle. LA Noire had a ton of retailer exclusives so I wonder why retailers don't seem to be getting in on this.

Update:
Turns out walmart and amazon offer 10$ gift card with preorder. Thats what im talkin about :foodndrink: If only I could pick it up at the store also

Because it's pointless, whatever they might have to offer would either break the game or be replaced in a few levels of play.

hopefully not.....unless they do the cool thing and sell them to everyone for cheap later as dlc I've seen that in a few xbox games lately and frankly its cooler than not being able to get unless you pre order...I'd rather pay extra for it later than not be able to afford something else I want

The only thing I have seen is that EB has 4 pictures.

That's the only store exclusive I know of.

And this is just in Australia because the collector's edition sold out there.

One of the worst things about this generation of games. I can't believe people actually want this. Wouldn't you rather just get the whole game with nothing removed?

On a related note, the pirates got all the FO:NV store-exclusive preorder DLC on the day the game came out. The same thing happens with basically every other game that has preorder DLC. The pirates get every single one of them, while the legitimate customers are left wondering "Why the hell do I have to decide between gamestop and best buy to get either scorpion's or subzero's original fatalities, moves that practically defined the characters??? I don't even like either of those stores!"

Edit: this is not an endorsemant of illegal activity. Just an example of how preorder dlc and incomplete day 1 games are only hurting the real customers.

Let's not turn this into a discussion about pirates. :pirate:

I never liked preorder bonuses in the first place since they are usually things that are rather pointless and do not add much to the actual game.

"preorder" discounts, as well as retailer incentives should not exist... its a thing that has to be hashed out between the retailer, and the publisher... both of which are usually money grubbing corporations...

To me it is a terrible thing to miss out on content because you couldnt afford a game at the time, (yeah even a 5 dollar pre-order) and it's even worse when multiple pre-order incentives are offered at separate retailers... It is just bad business to make exclusions of content, to give retailer an exclusive...

EB offers;
  • The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Game
  • Skyrim Steelbook
  • 100 Page A5 Skyrim Debossed Notebook
  • Premium Physical Map
  • 4 Collectable Art Cards

for about $90. Ozgameshop offers the game and the map for $42. So essentially you're paying $48 for some pictures and a notebook...

Hmm... you must hate Steam when they have some 70% off on a game you were thinking of getting but missed the offer because you were out for the weekend. (I know I was)

That's a bit different - you're not actually getting different content from other people who bought the game elsewhere, just a different price. But Steam sales happen often. Just wait for black friday ;)

I guess they don't have anything but I don't think I will be upset.

Just the game alone and the guide will make me more than happy come 11/11/11. :)

Instead of all these "Nuu cuz it b dum" answers, I will give the real reason behind why this will not happen.

For Fallout: New Vegas they did the exclusive preorder bonuses. Though they were just an .esp so after the release, they were all available to download on Nexus and other Fallout mod sites. So in the end it was extremely pointless.

I remember with Gears of War 1 at bestbuy, if you pre-ordered, you received a tshirt. So I put $5 down for the shirt and then never went back to buy the game.... Good deal on a cool shirt. :disguise: :celebration: :disguise:
