Retaliation DLC: 800-MSP. 10$ confirmed. POLL ADDED.

Post » Thu Dec 31, 2009 9:06 am

I have seen on the internet leaked information on a Crysis 2 map pack entitled Retaliation, which features 4 new maps: Compound, Shipyard, Park Avenue and Transit. Screenshots were also posted and the dlc was said to be priced at 800 MS points. Any word on a release date for this dlc? is it real or are the maps cancelled/removed? any info on this alleged upcoming map pack would be greatly appreciated.

The only reason people know about this map pack is because Microsoft screwed up a while back and replaced the pictures for the videos that are downloadable on XBox Live Marketplace for Crysis 2 with a picture that said something like "retaliation map-pack" or something like that on the pic. Obviously Crytek did not want them to reveal that back then and shortly there after Microsoft fixed the pictures for the videos in the marketplace.

Looks great indeed, too bad it doesn't play the way the trailer shows.

I'm not saying the maps don't look good, because I honestly can't really see the layout from those videos alone... but I would hope it'd be possible to branch out from the city, even though I understand the entire game resides in NYC. I'd like to see some beach front or jungle...

Better yet, take 'A Walk in the Park' and make it a map setting.

Regardless, by May 17th, there is probably not going to be much of a community. Picking my copy of Brink up after work today. See you there.

800 Microsoft points, not free...

I guess I'll buy them, they looked decent enough.

just heard about this and I'll just copy and past what I wrote on the Crysis FB page..

xbox 360 getting these? and pay for them? WTF, I paid $89 AUD for this game and it's broken as hell since day 1. The community is dying, takes forever to get a match going and even then it's now usually with people speaking foreign languages from the other side of the world and has become worse since the 2 4mb patches(one that killed the supposed hotfix) and you think we'll pay more for the DLC?

Holy f-ing **** EA!!! you and Crytek have some balls on you is all I can say.

If anything I would be offering it up for free to those of us who have stuck it out waiting for a real patch so we can actually play the damn game, and to get back those who have left in droves already. Some new f-ing maps WILL NOT fix the bad network code that selects the worst host every time or consistently drops you from the game , or that there are NO dedicated servers for console users. Or the fact the mechanics in general from the AI, to MP targets not being where you are shooting, to non exploding grenades and more still exist.
Have you guys ever heard of PR?

Add in that gamesas.com forum mods hardly tell us what Crytek are doing, and Crytek themselves seem to be ignoring their customers. And that they now rarely post at all. Some members have even reported being blocked after sending them one PM.

LOL buy some maps for a broken game that may or may not have people playing it in a month? What a Joke, the first of April was last month!!!!
So much for the rumours we were getting the maps free as a way of apology for having an untested "BETA" version of the game sold to us that was nothing like the MP DEMO that was online up until release.

Guess it won't be long before those PC pirates that raqed this game from the beginning will get the maps for free, while the console people cover the cost AGAIN!!!!!!

Every bit of this info, minus the trailer and release date, was leaked a long time ago. I guess now it is "official" though. :D

I don’t know about that, over the last couple of days the brink community have not been too happy with the 360 graphics, seemingly the container city footage was in fact footage of the PC version of the game, they just used 360 controllers in it.

Still I have my copy ordered also, but we can’t play it till Friday. If brink does turn out to be a goose, I think I’ll just switch back to the PC till they update the consoles.

On Topic, why has there been no announcement from Crytek in their “gamesas Forum” about this new map pack.

Hmmmm I'm not sure what to say about this.

On the positive side of things, the maps looks gorgeous and well laid out. 10$ in my honest opinion isn't that bad for 4 maps, better than spending 15 dollars on a Call of Duty map pack.

But on the negative side of things, the game still has the little annoyances that they have yet too fix, which in turn, is starting to show in lower numbers of people playing.

Also, I guarantee you that we'll barely even get to play these maps due to the stupid map rotation system we have in place now. These maps would probably be placed at the end so we never get to play them.

I'll see what happens on the 17th regarding my decisions to buy these or not. I love Crysis 2, haven't been playing it much lately, but if these are good and a patch comes out to fix these little annoyances, then count me back into the addicting MP that is Crysis 2.

I will make a poll on whether to buy this or not on the 17th... perhaps we can band together and boycott? lol

Im prepared to hold out if we stick together :D

I agree with Doomed Marine, it really should be free. I appreciatte that the maps are amazing and a cut above the competition and they dont want to give them for free considering the work involved (even if ported from SP) but they really need to compensate their customers.

They need a goodwill gesture, to show they understand whats been having and to maintain a good business reputation. But I dont think they care about how they look if this forum is anything to go by.

I mean, THEY HAVENT EVEN ANNOUCED THE DLC ON THEIR OWN WEBSITE???? What do these guys do all day? Is this how you run a business? Who creates a product (DLC) and doesnt market it on their own website. It was pure luck it was seen on youtube, we didnt know to look for it.

Dont **** give crytek more of your money guys. i know you guys play on consoles, and always buy these garbage map packs, but if you can handle it, dont buy this one. 4 more garbage maps arnt going to make you enjoy a broken game any more than you do now.

I think the only people who will buy this DLC are the people who arnt forum users. I'm sure you will see a few posts from new people claiming they cant find any games on the DLC once it hits. Anyone who uses forums would have to be stupid to buy it after reading thread after thread. Have a look at the comments on youtube there no different on there.

I wouldn't buy it without an update, but I dont think people buying it will be an issue. I think it will be boycotted & quite successfully judging people's reactions.

I'll more than likely buy it. The game initially was horrible but since I've played it, I've actually improved a lot and maybe the patch did do something for me. Who knows, possibly a combination of things but for the most part the issues are not that bad when I play it now. When I have a get together and let others try this game they love it and the change of pace compared to the usual FPS out there.

so they are splitting the community further with this map pack.
I think this one should have been free as a way of a thanks to the fans of the game and franchise, but i guess theres no honour in the game world when theres money to be made. Shame.

There are more updates coming for all platforms but these won't be ready before the 17th.

I voted after patches/fixes applied. However, looks like it will be a very long while. By then, I'd probably sell it, maybe.

Nice video.
Shame they always use PC footage. Makes me realise how much better the frame rate is on a pc compared to the 360
