Retaliation DLC - released May 17 2011

Post » Tue Feb 01, 2011 5:09 pm

Fix the **** game first Crytek.

Stop pissing on your costumers. We aren't your biches.

For how completely JACKED up this game has been from the beginning, and for ALL that it was lacking that they promised us, (especially those of us who preordered months in advance), they should give us this for FREE.

What? You didn't liked the AMAZING and EXCLUSIVE preorder gifts??????

Yay, 4 new maps for me to get disconnected from every 3 minutes....

While I do like Crysis 2 despite the incredibly irritating MP issues, I don't see how releasing a $10 map-only DLC which is inherently designed to be used with the part of the game experiencing the most problems is a good idea at all. If it had a few new suit modules, weapons/attachments included with the maps, then that'd be worth it (but only after the issues are fixed).

PC players will just pirate the maps like they did the game.
I hope i could do that because I'm not going to give more money to Crytek/EA.
Most disappointing game developer of the year.

Meh, it's better than the price of CoD map packs at least.

I'd pick it up in a steam sale where it's like 60% off, but other than that I wouldn't buy something which was deliberately removed from the game to be sold for extra money.

..It's like people who bought the BFBC2 specact DLC. That **** was already on your disc as locked content.

First I was like "what? map packs for a game with an editor?".

Then I realized:
PS3/XBOX360 : A map pack for 10$.
PC : Editor for 0$.

:3
I <3 you Crytek.

Yeah, but Specact was only a skin pack. You don't get kicked from a server by don't buying it.
All the Map Packs DICE made for BFBC2 were free.

What will happen when the server where I'm playing changes to a retailation map and I didn't have it?
I doubt I could even join a server with retaliation installed.

Map packs are the best way to kill a mp community.

The map pack is also 10$ on PC, and the idea of selling something as silly as that is just plain stupid, for it will divide a community (which is already dead) between the people who don't buy the maps, and the morons who do.

You know these maps ll be made/tweaked in the editors anyway -so for PC (once again) its all good and console get shafted. Dont buy untill they fix this broken engine/game/code MP experience. Youd be supporting the fact the game is broken.

THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT CREATEK WANTS!!!

Release a map pack every couple of months, like Cod:BO is doing.

Did they anonse price officially?
US= 10$
EU = 10€ = 14.2$

There's not crisis in Europe, it seems, if they can overcharge a 50% the DLC.

Problem is some idiots WILL buy maps, even if they can't find matches, because not many did. This is why companies like Crytek will pull **** like this. But yeah maps that are just cut aways of the SP campaign seems a bit rude paying for them considering we didn't really get that many maps to begin with IMO. (because Liberty Island and Evac seem too similar)

Now look at games like HALO Reach, While I think 800 points is bullsh!t for 3 maps, they were at least completely new and unique content.

These new C2 maps should be free for a couple of reason, 1 they should of been included in the release, I mean c'mon I paid almost $100 for the "BETA" and it's only been out a short time, 2 because well the game is a mess, I have never felt so ripped off with a game in my life, and for me, Crytek and EA should be giving us this not only as an apology for ripping us off, but as a thank you for not running away. Also it might bring back the droves of players who have quit and otherwise won't be back.

But yeah c'mon people, if you buy this map pack, and you think Crysis 2 is awesome and bug free, read the forums, 98% of us have had major issues, and if you give Crytek more cash before they fix the game, they never will, and you'll just be helping to rip off your fellow gamers.
Buying the maps will send the message to Crytek, that we are their biches, and they will think, "oh well they brought them, so the problem with our game can't be that bad"

I honestly think those who will be buying it though, will be kids who's parents and not themselves will be the ones parting with their cash.
I earn my own money, so am more concerned about where I put it, and right now I don't want to put more in Cryteks pocket.I think $100AUD was too much to begin with.

Or.. you could just change server. The same thing happens on consoles and they don't cry about it. They either buy the map pack or get used to switching lobbies a little more often.

You spent $100 on this game? LOL
I recommend an online shop called Ozgameshop. It's where I got my Crysis 2 for 50AUD

There will be less servers, Einstein. That is the complaint.
Map packs divides the servers between servers with/without that DLC.

I will agree, 5 dollars is a better price than 10 for a pack like this if its ONLY 4 maps. With a community that is divided and not as large as CoD or Battlefield, you dont want to push customers with a 10 dollar pricepoint for something that could questionablly be 5. I think for those who enjoy the game a lot, me being one of them, the DLC will get 10 dollars worth of value, but it will get less downloads. Dont be surprised if it drops to 5 not long after or goes on sale.

I will comment on the point of these maps being in Single Player. Maps that originate from Single Player campaigns do not necessarily justify free maps. You want to think of the VALUE you got from the core game. Id say the number of maps in multiplayer is fairly standard for a FPS. Although it may be a bit less work, it still requires work to remap the maps for MP, balance spawns, objective locations, and so forth. Remember many of the maps like Wall Street, Sanctuary, Invasion, and Lighthouse for example, although originate from SP concepts, are still mapped differently.
