Retexing Issue

Post » Thu May 20, 2010 12:41 am

Okay, so I've retextured items with my own textures and what not before just like I always have, but occassionally I get a strange problem. When I save my textures as .dds(using photoshop) the colors of the texture will come out something completely different and it will look wrong. Most of my textures work and some just get screwed up when I save them, even though I save them the same exact way. I save my textures as 8.8.8.8 ARGB 32 bpp unsigned(no idea what any of that means) with no normal map settings. I guess some things I make just don't like that and, like I said, the colors come out different and distorted... I know of no way to get around it, I usually just end up messing around with random settings until it works...

What am I doing wrong?

Edit: I'll take the time to edit this post so I can identify another problem of mine. I built a huge labryinth of tunnels out of interior Vivec/Velothi stuff. When I go in game, random parts of the tunnels disappear as if I never put pieces there in the CS. I think its because I put too much stuff in one cell. There's not even any clutter yet in the cell either. :shakehead:

Update: (hours later) I tried to resave it again as a texture in the exact same way I had before and it worked fine and the texture came out how I wanted it to, no distortion or discoloration. I guess it'll just work whenever it feels like it....

Sorry for double-post, but I'll bump in the process as I still haven't figured out a solution to my second bug.

If you start a new game, are all the parts present? If so, it's a localref problem, and you may need to delete that cell from your savegame if you want to use that savegame over again for testing cell changes in your plugin.

Okay, I'll try that and see if it works. Thanks.
