Retexturizer Recomendations

Post » Tue Jun 08, 2010 11:14 am

So, I've been playing with Vibrant Morrowind for a while, but then my hard drive died and I lost everything on it. So now I'm looking for mods to get. I'm going through the hall of fame on PES for some good ones, and I'm definitely installing some like GCD and LGNPC and the MCP, but I don't know that much about the retexturizers. All I've had so far have been VMW, and some minor stuff that change one little area. Vibrant Morrowind is a nice tex-pack, but since I'm having to re-install everything, I figure I might as well start over with the mods and look for things closer to the dev's vision.
So, I'm looking for retexurizer mods that basically just redo the original textures, but in more detail. I'm also open to things with a new perspective yet still somewhat reasonable, like http://planetelderscrolls.gamespy.com/View.php?view=Mods.Detail&id=3406.
So yeah, recommend away!

Retextures - not retexterizers.

For something close to the original vision many recommend Connary's Retextures. You should be able to find them on PES.

On PES? No, that's not true. But you find them http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1082054-connarys-retextures-gonne/page__p__15774888&#entry15774888.

Me too. Connary's... Uh... Everything... Along with AOF's skies (and maybe I'll get those containers too), Vurt's Trees and Grass and a couple of Darknut textures for armors/weapons/creatures.

This. But I also highly recommend anything by Alaisiagae. (search PES)
She has lots of little replacers for stuff like the ship sails, pillows, pelts, ingredients, etc.
very nice.

They're usually very similar to the original but with plenty more detail, little/no FPS hit, and a bit more atmosphere, but I use, always have used, and for the foreseeable future, always will use Qarl et al's work in the Visual Pack, Complete. IMO, it tops all the other graphics packs out there. Now, there are some things it doesn't redo, so Vurt's trees and grasses are recommended as well as your choice of sky replacers, and whatever armor/weapons you can pick up. But for the general world textures, I think that's by far the best pack done so far. If I don't use it, I hardly recognize the game, and I occasionally mistake them for vanilla textures until I remember the originals were terribly pixelated. :P
