[RELz] Retroactive Training Sessions

Post » Fri Feb 18, 2011 9:55 pm

Aaaand another small tweak mod. I'm pretty sure that I'm not the first one to do this (and not even the second one since I already know Oblivion XP does it), but I couldn't find a standalone mod at least so I thought I'd upload it. Since I'm always looking for ways to improve useless skills and attributes the amount of training sessions you get is dependant on your personality value (can be turned off if you don't like it). The trainers simply don't want to spend that much time with someone they can't stand.

== Retroactive Training Sessions ==

Requires OBSE!

This mods makes training sessions retroactive. That means training sessions not used will carry over to the next level. The amount of training sessions available per level is dependant on your personality value. This and the total amount of sessions per level can be adjusted via console however if you don't like the default settings.

= How to use the mod =

By default you will get 1 session plus up to 4 sessions depending on your personality per level. If you like it that way you don't need to do anything else, just activate the mod and play. If you want to adjust the mod to your own liking you need to open the console and set two variables.

The formula for training sessions is:

Level * (PTTrainBase + Personality * PTTrainMult / 100) - Training Sessions you already used

So PTTrainBase controls the training sessions you will always get per level and PTTrainMult controls the max sessions you get depending on your personality value (if your personality is 100). For example if you want to get 5 sessions per level and don't want personality to have any effect set PTTrainBase to 5 and PTTrainMult to 0. If you want to get 2 minimum training sessions per level and up to 5 extra sessions depending on your personality set PTTrainBase to 2 and PTTrainMult to 5. To set the variables simply open the console and type 'set PTTrainBase to x' or 'set PTTrainMult to x' (without quotes) where x is the value. Hit enter when you're done of course. Please note that changed values will only take effect after you save and reload.

The mod takes 0-5 seconds to update each time you load a game or level up. So theoretically if you are very fast and stand directly next to a trainer after loading a game or leveling up you will see the wrong amount of training sessions. Since it takes 5 seconds at most before the correct values are set it is more a theoretical thing, but I thought I'd mention it.

= Installation =

Put the esp into the Oblivion\Data folder. Activate the esp.

= Compatibility =

Oblivion XP has a similar feature (same minus the personality settings) already built in. It was broken for me, but for others it worked. If it works for you and if you don't care about the personality factor you don't need this mod.

I'm not sure if other mods do the same, I couldn't find any standalone mods at least. But I'm pretty sure there are at least some other mods that implement a feature like this. If you use any of them and don't care for the personality thing you obviously don't need this mod.

= Permission =

Do with the mod what you want.

This is something I didn't know I wanted, but I'm pretty sure I'll have to download it now! If it works how it is described, it'll be quit useful!

Thanks for the mod!

Personality needs a buff and this is a great way to do it!

Very nice.
Getting in my list.
I am slowly getting back to playing the game. So far I've just installed the game essentially. Last time I did this I tried doing it all at once and almost quit because of the sheer amount of mods getting installed, and I wasn't really adding anything more than what I thought was essential LoL

Congratulations! FYI, take a look at my Save Skill Training for Later, if you want ideas on how to tweak to avoid the level up delays:
