Return of glass weponry?

Post » Fri Jun 17, 2011 9:52 pm

Well, it's definitely proof of the Elven variety. It's been confirmed a dozen times over that the sword in the screenshot (The very same used in the Demo during Bleak Falls Barrow) is an Elven Glass Sword.

The Scimitar is just a guess. I make no secret of that.

its never been confirmed that its elven glass

The first picture is a full elven set, not glass. The second is not glass.

I've always liked the glass weaponry, but the armor from Oblivion svcked. I'd like one similar to Morrowind's, except with a new helmet.

The sword is specifically named "Elven Glass Sword". I don't know what more you need than that.

We're talking about the weapons, not the armor.

It's going to take a while. We originally learned it from the BFG event in Utah. They're the same demo, more or less though. The Elven Glass Sword is looted off one of the bandits that is shot by the Arrow though.

Okay, I'm almost positive you're going to contest it, but here you go.

This isn't the only interview specifically referring to the sword as an "Elven Glass Sword" either. It's just the first one I could find, and I'm not about to go on a scavenger hunt for you.

They're already back, we have a screenshot of two. An Elven Glass Sword, and a Glass Scimitar.

Scimitar? I only saw the first one.

They're calling it an elven glass sword because Todd calls it an elven glass sword in the G4 interview.

Don't think that scimitar is glass.

Yes, glass weaponry and armor are very cool ideas and I'm very happy they are returning, and in a very improved form; the bright green glass from Oblivion could get really annoying because it didn't fit in the world, any world, in fact.

For those of you saying it should be different colors: that's cool in theory, but I'd prefer the other colors to show up different sets of armor. For instance, red will probly show up in deadric armor, yellow will be in elvish. As for the other colors, I hope their tinges make their way into other sets of armor. Besides, dark green just looks so cool as a glass weapon. I don't think another color could match it for glass.

Todd said elven glass sword. End of story. Its nobodys fault if you someone didnt watch all the E3 interviews. And thats not a glass scimitar. That weapon looks obviously orcish.

I doubtvthat scimitar is glass either. It's not actually green. It is metal, look it has scratches. Glass weapons never had metal blades. And look at the plainness of the handle, looks nothing like glass or of elven construction.

Glass has always been Elven Glass. IIRC, there is dialogue in MW that states that Glass armor is of elven design and construction. They probably just tacked Elven Glass onto the name

You don't know that. And I don't actually know that it is. I think it definitely has the characteristics of glass though. It's reflecting a light source, which is why it doesn't look exactly the same as the Elven Glass in the Wraith picture.

Glass is a material. Claymores are of Breton origin, yet there are Glass Claymores.

As for the Scimitar itself, what province uses Scimtars? Yah, that's right, the Dunmer of Morrowind.

Yep. Specifically, the Armor Style seen in Morrowind is Altmer. They quietly suggest that each culture has their own practices and styles of armor, but it's unrealistic to expect ten varieties of a single item, though I think Skyrim is attempting to bridge that gap a little.

Glass weaponry and armor has already been confirmed by screenshots, video, and glass items have been mentioned by Todd himself numerous times.
