Return of glass weponry?

I never thought glass anything was practical. And I dont like the green look of it.

Window Glass =/= Fictional Ultra-hard Volcanic glass

Once again, TES "glass" that is found in vvardenfell is similar to what Diamond is to us, except not so brittle.

Actually, think Obsidian, which can keep a very sharp edge (Sharper than any metal).

Also, even normal glass is very hard... it takes a strong blow to thin glass to break it. Glass armor is effective because it's harder and lighter than metal: Any blow that doesn't break it, shouldn't hurt it at all (Unfortunately, that's not represented in game-play, yet). So, it can also have a smoother surface, because incidental blows won't roughen it up, and therefore be even more likely to turn aside blows instead of shatter.

Looks like glass to me. More than the color or the odd reflective properties of the blade, the construction and how the cutting edge is fit into its holding makes me believe it is, in fact, a Glass Scimitar.

Scimitar: it's metal.

Glass in previous games and from what we have seen in Skyrim doesn't have scratches and dents in it like metal, and glass has always been green.

Plus it's not ornate enough so it doesn't suggest high tier weapon to me, it has no decoration or engravings, and it's too rugged and worn.

I have no idea what it is.

edit: here is a close up of the http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c85/lego-botz/game%20shots/ElvenGlassSword.jpg. If you inspect it close enough, it might even be transparent. Hard to say for sure with the reflection map shader on it.

Glass sword... Now that I don't know. It would svck to get cut by, for sure.

The real life equivalent is obsidian weapons, the most famous being macuahuitl.

The special thing about Obsidian is that it makes the sharpest blade in existence. The blade can literally be made to 3 nanometre thickness. That's why eye surgeons use obsidian scalpels, as the sharpness decrease scarring. The drawback is that obsidian get chipped more easily than steel, so the scalpel had to be replaced regularly.

So glass weapons can be interpreted as a high-damage blade weapon which are light, but have extremely low durability.

Though Glass hammer would be a little ridiculous.
