Return of Power Struggle in Crysis 2? (For the PC)

Post » Fri Dec 31, 2010 11:10 am

CRYTEK - where is the Power Struggle mode / vehicle / big maps ????

Why you don't take the BEST THING in crysis multiplayer and implement this in CRYSIS 2 ?
you are PRO Developers Company ...get start to behave like this.

i'am sure the single player will be great, but gamers spend most of their HOURS in the MULTI.......

Iam trying hard not cancel my PRE-ORDER.... please give us some good news about it!

The last modes have been showed (PS is not in the game), and that there won't be any vehicles in MP was confirmed by Crytek decades ago. I agree that PS was fun, but that was the only thing in CW that somehow catched my attention. The rest was rather funless and I surely spent more time in Crysis' SP as in it's MP. Strangely it's beeing the other way round in Battlefield Bad Company 2 ;D

Keep in mind that crysis wars was made by the crytek studio in germany and crysis 2 is made by crytek uk (former free radical studio) and these guys dont have any experience on open terrain based modes and games . Timesplitters was a fun console game and not even realistic one cause u got double shotgun and stuff ;p So from that said u can assume why no power struggle and more casual game modes .

Yeah, which makes a lot old Crysis players like me angry. But, with the SDK, and SandBox, we'll probably be able to bring it over. Hopefully, Capture the Flag as well. I would so love to bring over some True Combat, Infiltration, and Urban Terror maps.

I wish they do release these things ..cause honestly all other engines in market look outdated in terms of developing . Modding was so simple with cryengine 2 and the sandbox :>

You know, there are modes like this. Capture the Relay (seems to be CTF) and Extraction for example. In TIA, team gameplay isn't as valuable as in Crash Site and the other 5 modes, so we'll see Infiltration and Urban Terror.

Oh, in Capture the Flag, that is where you REALLY need team play. I haven't played CTF in about 5 years, so hopefully, I can get some of the "old" players from those games to come back. Inf has handful of players still around, and TC and UT are still played and have a few more. Those were the days. You really don't see team work like that anymore. Most of the team fighting like crazy to get the flag carrier through and the rest taking cover to defend their own flag.

First of all, I wanted to mention that while I haven't played Crysis 2 (yet), I played the Crysis 1 beta back in 2007, Crysis 1 MP, and Crysis Wars. I found the gameplay in the franchises' multiplayer to be extremely satisfying and rewarding. One of the main selling points for me (at least) were the big land battles PC players had on maps like Mesa and Shore.

Although I think vehicles (except for the cars) should be removed from Power Struggle, would it be possible for the developers to an an urban-themed Power Struggle in Crysis 2? Not only would it be amazing, but it would be a day one buy for me.

Essentially, you'd have the same formula of Power Struggle like Crysis Wars except:
-Buildings could be entered
-No vehicles with the exception of cars
-Instead of destroying the Enemy's base with a nuke, you'd have to enter their main facility and trigger an explosion from inside. Think Titan mode in Battlefield 2142 except land-based.

I was also in the beta, good times.
I agree, I remember Cevat Yerli saying that they thought their multiplayer was so good that it could be sold as a separate game. They loved their multiplayer and while I don't think they should change what they have created for Crysis 2, I do think they should keep Power Struggle with perhaps a few changes if they will.

You can see teamplay like that in Halo's CTF mode. It's not ALL gone. And now with C2, I guess we' ll get way better Teamplay improvement, so there's no place for loners ;D I love teamplay and Coop things (We want Coop :( ) so I guess I'll play that more often.

I sincerely hope they add it.

I guess the only problem would be that you wouldn't be able to purchase vehicles anymore. The only vehicles you'd have would be the Machine Gun-Mounted Hummers.

I hope Crysis 2 has Power Struggle in some form... It can and should be modified to conform to the urban environment, but it would be awesome. :)

If it was released as DLC after launch, I would certainly buy that stuff. *hint hint*

Would be rather impressed if there was a Power struggle in Crysis 2 Mp, like the former Crysis. ;)

Well, if they give us the SandBox and SDK, skies the limit.

Yeah, definitely if the Sandbox and SDK was included?

It's very likely that they won't release a SDK this time. Releasing a SDK will only hamper their revenue for DLCs.
Just look at Dragon Age 2, there won't be a SDK for it as well.

Well, they can forget most PC players ever buying DLC. Its not going to happen.

I just love the idea of driving around in a police car with the lights and sirens on and running over people.

DLC for PC?
Feh!
Heh. The only DLC should be what the Crymodders create.

Here's an old quote from a wiki.
"Capture The Flag, originally planned to be included in the game, is no longer part of the game mode line up, due to its similarity to Power Struggle.[14] Even so, Jack Mamais, lead designer, stated that Crytek hopes that this mode will be developed by the modding community. Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli also said that Team Action would not be included as a multiplayer mode, because players would gravitate towards either Instant Action, or Power Struggle."

The community will be the best resource for the Crysis 2, not DLC unless the DLC is patch updates.

To my knowledge, Crytek hasn't revealed to us all of the Multiplayer modes yet. Maybe Power Struggle is one of them.
