Return of the cliffracers

Post » Fri May 21, 2010 8:12 pm

Cliff racers with 200 years to multiply and gain ungodly amounts of numbers. No one would survive....

The entire game would be about surviving the cliff racer apocalypse.

Being serious though. If there were some sort of super cliff racers descendent from the ones around Nerevar's time I'd be fine with that. They be a real danger, not just a constant state of annoyance.

After the first dungeon, you accidentally run into a dragon that would absolutely annihilate you, but out of nowhere a bunch of cliff racers appear and harass the dragon allowing you time to escape and begin your low-level Elder Scrolls life. :whistling:

To be honest I don't understand why everyone hates cliffracers
I found them as annoying as any other hostile wildlife, so as far as I care, they can be present in Skyrim

This.

I found Oblivion's wolves to be more annoying, tbh. Cliff Racers were easy to kill, and they often got caught in the scenery anyway.

They're everywhere, the developers themselves said that their large number was a mistake. They're very very fast.Their screeches only serve to enhance the annoyance.

Cliffracers aren't in Oblivion so I didn't see them but my cousin played Morowind on the old Xbox and he said they were awful and always ganged up on him so I don't really want to see them.

This is probably the finest topic I've seen on these forums ever since I've found it.

Cliffracers need to come back in a big way and this is exactly what I wish Skyrim would/will be all about. SCREW DRAGONS! Spending a lazy Sunday evening in constant paranoia of a cliff racer flank attack, and developing the dull throbbing headache from the tinny "THUNK" that came every ten to fifteen seconds will always be my warmest gaming nostalgia.

Honestly this probably one of my biggest complaints about Morrowind.Getting hit didn't just hurt your character,it hurt your ears.

Wait, let me make sure.......you WANT cliff racers back?

You seem to miss the point. The author of the thread is essentially saying that the word *dragon* is simply a replacement to the word *cliff racer*. In other words, dragons are going to be an annoying bunch. I don`t think this is the case unless they really do make the dragons act like the cliff racers in Vvanderfel.

I can see it now...

Todd Howard: "We had dragons all ready, but it turns out there's been a slight complication. Saint Jiub drove the Cliff Racers out of Morrowind, which in-turn drove the dragons out of Skyrim and into High Rock. They, in turn, drove the Bretons into Hammerfell, which drove the Redguards into Cyrodiil and Valenwood. The Redguards in Valenwood met with the Bosmer and decided to leave, then taking up more space in the lands of Elsweyr, similar to their land of Hammerfell and decided to stay.

"The Khajiits got fed-up with all the human intrusion, and stormed into Cyrodiil. The Imperials couldn't stop the Skooma and Moon Sugar trade, and fled to Black Marsh. The Argonians traced this ridiculous path all the way back to Jiub, and it was the final straw; they attacked Morrowind and freed the slaves.

"So that's why there are no more dragons in Skyrim. Instead, you'll fight off hordes of Cliff Racers."

i wonder where the cliffracers are now? cliffracers like to roam around mountains, they were driven out of morrowind by saint jiub, there are many mountains in skyrim, so cliffracers are likely populated near the mountains of skyrim. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8YO0EmMrmRA

On Cliffracer Island you press "R" trying to get out your all powerfull fireball spell, but it takes forever because five+ cliffracers are constantly interrupting you.

lol cliffracers, there was nothing like just starting morrowind and getting swarmed by five cliff racers. I remember my triumph after I got to good for them. they are probably my most hated elder scrolls enemy yet

I liked cliffracers. They were great for increasing your archery skill, and it was cool to shoot something out of the air with your bow. Something that I missed doing in Oblivion.

P.P.P.S. The final boss battle revealed: http://youtu.be/U31i-uBVus4

What a great boss battle only... I think there should be one difference.

It would be EVEN BETTER if Bethesda made a tiny subspecies of cliff racers that are difficult to hit, and they always come in swarms of 10. They should all do very low damage, and have very low hp, but they should be able to generate some sonic wave by screaming which paralyzes the player. So the player can feasibly become paralyzed for like 20 seconds while the cliff racers just peck at them, making that wonderful sound... Oh and these cliff racers should be able to sometimes follow you even into caves, and they should be able to swim too. Maybe make miniature zombie cliff racers, that sometimes come back to life a minute later to harass the npc. These new types of cliff racers should have like heat seeking vision or something like that, or maybe even telepathy or even both so that it's impossible to sneak past them.

Ooo and maybe they should be given the ability to unlock doors with key like beaks, so that they can EVEN harass players in their own homes regardless if they leave the door locked or not.
