Return of the Geckos?

Post » Wed Oct 13, 2010 12:50 am

Las Vegas is very close to the setting of the first 2 fallouts. I am excited because Las Vegas is close to Death Valley California and next to some big cities and interstates it will be a good setting. I have been thinking if it is that clsoe to the setting of the first fallouts can we see the Geckos again?, I liked hunting them and skinning them. I wish we were able to skin fire Geckos. I would like to see other creatures from the first two fallouts. Like Pig Rats, Giant Rats. I would like to see Wanamingos again! The Mutants in the West were exposed to the FEV of the west the one the Master used. Not the new FEV of the East the one that makes the Super Mutants behemoth so I hope Bethesda keeps that in mind.

I'd like to see the Wanamangos, however it would be a contravention of what's in the bibles, and therefore Bethesda would face a lot of angry "You're ignoring the lore" comments.

Fallout 3 already did an amazing job of ignoring Fallout Canon. I mean look at the whole "East Coast Super Mutant" debacle...

I assume that what he meant was that they should probably all be dead by then.
Spoiler
"The only known queen lived in the Wanamingo Mine in Redding, owned by Ascorti. All "aliens" living in that mine were killed by the Chosen One in 2242."
And fallout 3 was set in July 2258. I believe (not sure) that NV will take place either at the same time as F3 or after it. So there really is not point making the whole creature model for just a few, or no Wanamingos.

I think.

Well most of your entry is blocked I can read why, it is a spoiler to those that have not played fallout 2. Well Wanamingos were all over the California wastes so there maybe Other Head Wanamingos out there, why not? We don't know how many eggs a Wanamingos lays, so there can be many many more out there.

Actually, there was only one major concentration and that was in Redding. The Wannamingo species itself was developed by the less than sane "Doctor" at the EPA, so in theory they could be brought back into play, but there seems little reason to return them to the Fallout franchise. Besides, before you know it, people will be wanting to have the "Burrows" reintroduced into the Fallout series....

Well the "Burrows" were not in the game Wannamingo were but I have been looking at the "Fallout 2 bible" and they are supposed to be dead. Damn. Well I don't see why they could not some how defy being extinct and come back. Has anyone every heared of the "selacamp." All and All I want the Geckos to come back more then anything. I want The Master FEV Mutated Super Mutants to be in the game not the East coast behemoth making FEV super mutants. I would like to see other Creatures like Floaters and Pig rats.

It would be great to see "The Prisoner" and "The Hanged Man" included in New Vegas!

excellent point. Thank you for pointing that out. Wannamingos were cool and with the new fallout graphics they would look even cooler.

I think there was even some concept art done for them.

Haha trust me, i am by no means trying to be a canon..eer. I'm still trying to figure out fallout 2 as we speak. I find it quite difficult to transition from mediocre story to good story whilst transitioning from good graphics to pretty much horrid graphics. What's this about strategy and paying attention! Preposterous!

Pretty much, I had no idea what wanamingos were until I read the wikia. So i'm a poser canon..eer.

On the topic of geckos, if it's canon and generally accepted, I could use a break from fighting radscorpions with a [censored] kick/punch.. (yes I just started playing it, so I svck.)

dunno, tbh. i loved the geckos and the aliens/wannamingos too. but for me, what made them attractive, was that they were soooo cute :D i'm not sure how well that would blend with the graphics style of todays fallout games.
but a little more diversity in the wasteland wildlife would be good for sure. meeting an albino scorpion every 200ft gets boring after a while^^

yea they were cute till they attacked me :P Future games like New Vegas will be close enough to the setting of F1 and F2 to have Geckos and Wannamingos so why not? Hunting them was a quest for me. I to would like to more diversity in wasteland wildlife as well.

Have you noticed that besides brahmin and dogs there are no other domesticated animals? and why are the people not using brahmin to ride on insted of having them just to carry their stuff?

Well, you don't often see people riding cows or oxen.

Like RL cows and oxen their backs are too wide to ride effectively. I think. Or they are too 'deep' in the chest to rig a saddle effectively.
They are stronger than horses, but slower. Ergo, more suited to carry or pull heavy loads.
