Return of the Nymphs

EDIT: NYMPHS OR SPRIGGANS CONFIRMED!!!!!!!! :celebration: :celebration: :celebration: :celebration: Probably just Spriggans but hey, Pete was vague so who knows!

Some of you have been complaining that none of the females are hot (apart from the orcs).

Let me direct you to a few excerpts from the Daggerfall book "A Scholar's Guide to Nymphs" by Vondham Barres:
Nymphs look like beautiful, naked women who skip along tra-la-la and like to have indisciminate six.

Nymphs are the wisest, most wonderful creatures in Tamriel.

And from real mythology:
Different from gods, nymphs are generally regarded as divine spirits who animate nature, and are usually depicted as beautiful, young nubile maidens who love to dance and sing.

These fair maidens can give you everything you have desired... so long as you are smart about it. Nymphs are the fairest of all creatures on Nirn and Dibella smiles favourably upon them. But watch out... they might bite if you don't know a bit of Faerie...

I don't care if Skyrim is too cold for their uncensored naked bodies to handle... Skyrim is close to Hammerfall and many Nymphs are known to reside there.
Given that my main character, a female Breton, will be role-played as a half-nymph, I would like at least some word of what has happened to the species... whether they have died out or not... whether Vondham Barres was ever found again... yeah...

Nymph's haven't been mentioned since Daggerfall. A Scholar's Guide to Nymphs hasn't even been an in-game book in any other game.

Sorry, but I think Bethesda forgot about nymphs. And I don't think they would risk having that much full-frontal nudity in their game.

Nonsense! Nymphs are only a wild myth... a tale thought up by old, fat, and horny scholars to "pass the time" with! :shifty:

It's going to be a little too cold to walk around in the nvde. Also, what The Passage said.

It would be great to have them back, I like smart races that are non-playable to make appearances. I'd also like the talking spriggans instead of the regular ones.

I would so harrass them with my character if they were in the game. I think they'd be the only people I'd feel bad killing.

Well, they didn't have minotaurs between Arena and Oblivion, but they made a comeback. Any creature can. Ogrim aren't as far as we know in this game or the last one, but nobody would think they were somehow forgotten if they came back in TES 6.

You'd think that cold would be more trouble to the giant spiders than nymphs though, and we've seen the giant spiders. Nymphs would do better than Argonians too, wouldn't they? Warm clothing isn't going to do much for someone cold blooded.

They're completely hammered off their asses and on drugs.

And the cold blooded question is still up in the air, Shades.

My non-canon, lore-unfriendly Breton is evidence of their existence!!!
(of-course I could just skew it so the Nymph part is only a claim to fame by the father, and not actually known whether true or not)

Also about the cold. Nymphs are pretty magical y'know. It's pretty cold in Daggerfall what with all them strong coastal winds... yet they survive (plus it being just as far North as Skyrim).

Well, Ogrims are not nymphs, which in appearance are essentially naked women. Their return would be much less... controversial....

Perhaps we will see them in some other, more covered, form.

True, and the Seducers returned in the same way. Much less naked than before, and without wings.

The nudity might not be much of a problem if they did it a certain way. The Mother for Dragon Age: Origins: Awakening was completely topless. Actually so was the Lady of the Forest and all of the desire demons.

Trying to be totally serious here.

The scholar who wrote the book was probably a reincarnation of a Japanese man on Nirn.

Well if they aren't mentioned again it wouldn't hurt. The whole book gives them an extremely mysterious and fantastical feel... never seeing them again would add to the mystery and secrecy of their culture. Maintain the illusion that there is an entire different world out there that we, and all the other races in Tamriel, will never be aware of. Those that do discover it sort of 'ascend' into a higher plane of knowledge.

The further north you go into Skyrim, the more powerful and elemental the people become, and the less they require dwellings and shelters. Wind is fundamental to Skyrim and the Nords; those that live in the far wastes always carry a wind with them.

Children of the Sky A lore book in both Morrowind and Oblivion.

Doesn't seem unreasonable to assume that if Nords in the coldest parts of Skyrim have LESS need for shelter, then something as elemental as a nymph would need even less protection from the elements.

Not that I think BGS will ever do it, but canonical sources strongly suggest that cold wouldn't be much of a problem for some humans, much less magical creatures like nymphs.

Nymphs weren't just a book in Daggerfall, they were also an actual fightable creature. They dropped an alchemy ingredient as well, 'Nymph Hair'. Clearly they were more than a scholar's fantasy.

Yeah. Lady of the Forest had conveniently placed vines and plants, and Desire Demons had their nipbles covered. The Mother was completely exposed though.

It seems Bethesda has moved away from nudity to some extent; although Azura's statues are still topless, but there isn't any detail. I remember in the Quakecon footage the Dibella statue Todd found was topless also, but in a way similar to Azura.

So, who knows...

If they aren't in I will mod them in, despite owning a PS3 and buying a copy of the game for the PS3.
Complete with custom-made nymph model. Maybe it will be popular judging by the poll results :goodjob:

Bring them back, but slightly censored since we wouldn't want to upset the puritans
Be nice if a few creatures from Daggerfall strayed across the borders
