Why would they put umbra in again? Have they brought back items from previous games before?

Pretty much all of the "artifact" weapons and items have at least appeared twice.

@OP, it would be great if Umbra's game mechanics were more like the Mighty Umbra mod for Oblivion. As it stands, Umbra is crap, since even if it's DPS can beat an unenchanted weapon, the effective DPS of an enchanted high-tier weapon is going to end up being higher.

Umbra could change to a longsword or a shortsword deppending on which you use the most in game.

That makes sense though because of radiant story umbra could take the form of whatever you happen to be specializing in when you find it.

Sorry, caps' comment distracted me before I finished and forgot to go back. Yeah i was thinking about some nightmares and dreamscapes too.

Hehe, it happens to me all the time. I see a comment and it's entertaining or I want to rebut it and I completely forget to finish the OP.

That's why I modded Umbra's weapon damage through the roof lol. But it takes a daedric longsword with a straight magic damage enchant of a sizable amount to beat it though.

Perhaps the sword changes form depending on its owner. Maybe if you are better with one handed weapons it would become a one handed long sword but if you were better with two handed it would become a claymore? That would explain why it changed from game to game as well as giving it its own special thing

Well if it is, I'll slash my wrists with it...

But I can get behind it changing form to fit the characters style.

Another nice thing about the mighty Umbra mod was that it replaced oblivion's umbra with the mesh and texture of a weapon in the slayer's sword mod.

Maybe a seriously mean-looking mace or warhammer in the hands of some deranged berserker on a glacier at the top of the world ?

I'd like to see more bastard swords in vidya games.
Umbra as one would be nice. :D

I completely forgot Umbra was made into a longsword in Oblivion. :/
I definitely preferred it as a claymore, but I could deal with it being a longsword, I suppose.

Or a vibro blade.

Also whoever made the vote that made the claymores 2 ahead instead putting it in long swords to even out the score, curse you!!!!

This is a very great idea, i like it alot.

I think more intresting instances and features like this should be added. To keep the game fresh and enjoyable, something different to add to the amazing TES series

I'm pretty sure it is going to be a long sword in Skyrim because of how it was in Oblivion (book stating it was a sword) and the way it is described in the IC book. Maybe Umbra gets to keep the power he stole from Clavicus hehe. Talk about a hard hitting sword...

Are you giant sword final fanatic? One handed swords are more practical.

No, I just have fond memories of a 2-handed sword from Morrowind. Just feels right, to me.

Yeah, there's no way they wouldn't include it in Skyrim.

I think I'd actually like for it to be a dagger. Despite how much that would svck, it would be worth the hilarity.

First off, I want to know what will end up happening to Umbra and the Umbra sword in the second part of the TES book. Depending on what happens, it could affect Umbra significantly.

Hilarity of watching me cry?

I'm thinking Umbra will be put back in the sword for pissing off Clavicus and stealing some of his power. That shows how awesome Umbra is, to be able to actually wound and steal power from a Daedra Prince, that is impressive.
