Return of Umbra

Post » Sat May 14, 2011 12:59 am

Well you could easily wake up damaged... fighting... or having a deadly dissease... but nearly no matter what... "You'll wake up with a very large bounty..." plus people will try to kill you for that sword...

I like Glorious' idea better because the infamy and bounty would come as result of seen events rather that just sleep, wake up with bounty.

Doesn't matter if it does cause lots of people like to play evil characters and build their infamy, getting infinite infamy simply by sleeping would break the game for those people.

Well... thats a problem... but it could easily be solved by doing so your infamy only rises during your first sleep... or just rises 10 points after you've slept for the first time...

Sleign, what if after you use Umbra enough you could unlock special finishing moves to take your opponent. Another thing i was thinking about was in order to aquire the souls of your enemies, you had to impale them and hold it in until their soul is completey drained out. :chaos:

Cool? Just because it was in it's first appearance doesn't mean it is SUPPOSED to be. They changed it to a long sword for a reason. Also, I believe it is a long sword in IC. I put it the poll as what you would want it to be not what you think it is "supposed" to be.

Let′s make frostmourn in Warcraft be a 1 hander then, and let′s make Azura′s Star a single-use soulgem, let′s make Scamps cast frosbolts instead of fire and let′s make Hircine be a maid in high heels.

I think it should mold itself into whatever form your most adept at. That way the devs don't have to say you can only have this or that, but this is all assuming the sword still exist. There is a very good chance it will get destroyed, or at the very least, lose much of its power in the conclusion of the next book.

A curse I hope Umbra will have... if you haven't killed 25 people with Umbra since you last slept then the next time you sleep your charecter will be taken' over by the sword and while you sleep your character will go on a killing spree... so you'll awake with Umbra in your hand and mostlikely a LARGE bounty... and if your really unlucky you'll awake in the middle of a fight...

Nah, that wouldn't be fun. Rather, instead of waking up to a bloodbath you didn't get to enjoy, the sword should penalize you for not feeding it and thus provide an incentive for the player to commit murder in order to restore themselves.

I'd like to see both. Kind of like that one quest in Shivering Isles where you fought your shadow-self and your skills determined which weapon you got. Maybe if you have a better one-handed skill it should be a longsword, and the opposite if you're better with two-handed weapons.

It would be cool if Umbra was wielded by some sort of witch or lich.

Many Most, if not most all, of the unique items have appeared in previous games.

Corrected :bunny:

@w2drs21: Why do people have this fascination with lich. Seems like people just want to play as and against lich the entire game. "The Elder Scrolls: Lich" would be the next game if you people were in charge of Bethesda.

This is Umbra we are talking about, the Witch would be wielded by the sword.

I wouldn't want to be a Lich I would just think it would be cool to vs Umbra as sum evil lich creature, making Umbra more terrifying.

I haven't read the book either but can't anyone be umbra? I thought anyone could be Umbra because the wielder of the sword was being controlled by it at least that's what I thought. I hope umbra acts like dawnfang/duskfang and to keep it at It's maximum power you have to keep getting more souls.

Why would they put umbra in again? Have they brought back items from previous games before?

A good number of Daedric Prince artifacts make many appearances throughout the series. Umbra also went from Morrowind to Cyrodiil.

Wow that vote is split right down the middle!

I chose two-handed. The sword is two handed in morrowind and oblivion. I want it to stay that way.

I had forgotten about the nightmare area in oblivion, thanks for reminding me!

Then I'll cheat my way to owning two one-handed umbras... imagine wielding two of those crazy blades...

It wasn't two-handed in Oblivion.

We will find out what happens with Umbra in the second book. Right now, Umbra is still out of his sword and the sword is in Tamriel. I'm guessing that Clavicus will be able to seal Umbra back in the sword. Hopefully he takes the power he stole from Clavicus with him into the sword so it becomes even more powerful bwahaha.
