Return of Vault 22 Dwellers

Post » Sun Jul 17, 2011 7:05 pm

Okay if you played Honest Hearts you know that they are out there and in a large number having escaped Vault 22 the people were all still infected with the spores so what are your guesses for when we will finally have to confront this menace?

I have three guesses

In Old World Blues: the mysterious larger threat.
In Lonesome Road: Could be related to the cause of the disaster
Some unannounced DLC: Whether after the ending or just another add on it is possible that another DLC could be on the way.

I'm pretty sure all the Vault 22 "survivors" turned into those green spore carrier monsters :violin:

1. Vault 22 Dwellers have been done in the base game AND Honest Hearts, it's a used concept
2. OWB's greater threat is most likely Mobius. If it is vault 22 dwellers, then I and many more fans just wasted time speculating on hundreds of ideas more original than that.
3. Why would spore people cause any major disaster in LR?
4. There will be no DLCs that extend the game past the ending. Chris Avellone did all to confirm this without directly saying it by claiming he wrote the last dialogue for any FNV character not too long ago.

The fact is, vault 22 spore people have been explored are a done concept. I'm sure they will have a slight backstory in OWB to explain their presence in the Big Mt., but nothing more than enemies. Who knows, maybe the spore creatures at Big Mt. aren't even Vault 22 dwellers, but just the result of research at the Big Mt.

I just don't see them as a faction of interest. Dead people infected with spores. They can't talk, they have no greater goal than to kill and spread the spores, they're almost completely mindless, and they're based on the trogs, another mindless faction that only care to kill, reproduce, and eat.

Anyway, just listing my points why it isn't a good concept, we'll most likely lose sight of them after OWB and be done forever. I don't want to come off as hostile, just stating my argument. Who knows, maybe you're right.

Yea, they meant that there will be no DLC that extends the story beyond the game ending .. like the DLC in Fallout 3 ... not that they wouldn't release more after the end. For all I know a guy at Bethesda said that they had like 7-8 DLC written & in plans for the game, he did say they would probably not all make it in ... but he said that a sure number for him was 5 ....so thats like 1 more after "The LAst DLC" or more , we never knowthey may change their mind and release all of the planed ones or not. But yea, I'm not rdy to say that Lonesome Roads is gonna be last :)
And Bethesda, please add some songs as DLC ... that would be awesome as I realised the other day on here ..in New Vegas ... there not even the song Viva LAs Vegas from Elvis Presley, even tought there is an NPC portraying him in a bar or something

Is there anything else? :whistling:

Elvis songs are expensive to license.
And you mean the King in Freetown? Haven't you met him?

I'm pretty sure that Obsidian said that if they added a song by elvis in the game, it would be the ONLY song in the game. It's an expensive license you know. I'd pull up the quote but I'm to lazy, it's here somewhere though.

Oh, then that was a misunderstanding on my part. That still brings my point back to the fact that Chris Avellone stated he's done writing dialogue for any NV character. SInce he's the chief writer, the snowglobe shelf can only hold two more DLC snowglobes, all interest will be directed towards Skyrim, Rage, and other content, rather than NV, and there are no more DLC plans announced, I'd say it's safe to assume there will only be 4 DLCs for New Vegas.

Don't get me wrong, if the devs want to surprise us with another DLC, I'd be thankful, but it seems like that won't happen. :(

Please, just no more Vault 22. I hate those spore bastards. In '22 they sit there cloaked so you waste ammo shooting at pot plants. In HH they prance around like the [censored] sugar plum fairy. They're an obvious redeco of the Trogs, and I hated them as well. I'd rather have talking Cazadors that force you to play 6 straight games of Caravan and cheat.

I absolutely hate these spore carriers, maybe more than I've hated anything in Fallout ever. For the love of God, not again :cryvaultboy:

Well in Honest Hearts they clearly left the value and in mass numbers. I believe they will be a problem down the line and they are indeed still out there and far from done since they are all sick but were still human in Honest Hearts except the ones that turned.

Which, as Commandant Oreo said, is outrageous. The guy's been dead for nearly 35yrs, and the money goes to his estate, headed by his ex-wife Priscilla. I'm not suggesting that her involvement in his life didn't contribute to his work, but according to Forbes his estate generated US$49mil profit in the 06-07 financial year. Forty-nine million dollars when he'd been dead for thirty years. To think that it's feasible to include songs from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Guy Mitchell yet not one for Elvis - hell, all three of them outlived him by 20 years each! It just beggars belief.
