Returning, need help Please :)

Hi, want to get back into oblivion again and thought it'll prob be a good idea if someone could check my mods and see if there are any updates. But its been atleast 4 months since playing and can't remember much, can someone first tell me how to get my load order up please? btw im using OBMM.

The procedure is described in the Help function of OBMM.... (use the Import/Export button).
Then you copy/paste it into your forum message using this format:

Skip the spaces of of course. This should then result in a clickable button like this:

More on-topic:

- Download and install BOSS v1.65 from Tesnexus and let your load order get BOSS sorted.
- Living Economy is not really a favorite anymore since Enhanced Economy v5.1 is superior and most widely used these days.
- Consider learning (and installing) Wrye Bash version 2.90 and how to let it cooperate with BOSS (the magic words are Bash Tags)
- Please read the respective WB thread and BOSS thread in case of questions.

ok ive put the load order from BOSS into my spoiler which is V1.55 i think so i'll get updated one then, but will that tell me what mods have updates or not?

Ahh, how do i delete the old BOSS? ive got about 6 BOSS files in the data folder, they are

masterlist
modlist.OLD
modlist

do i delete them all then run installer? or should i just get archive version and copy files manually?

For BOSS, just go ahead and delete all the old files. There is no harm (usually) in overwriting them, but I'd say just delete them. Almost as easy.

I'd also recommend you update OOO to version 1.34 Beta 5.

Also, update your BOSS masterlist, by running the update masterlist file.

ok but now cant delete boss batch file because it says its open in AVGIDsAgent, now have to try and turn AVG off, btw i do have 1.34 beta of OOO

btw i dont have a update masterlist file... now i cant turn AVG off, should i just run installer for BOSS 1.65? will it overwrite?

You're running an old version of BOSS. Yes, you can just install BOSS and it will overwrite the old files.

- Unofficial Oblivion Patch latest version is 3.3.3. I'd say this is an essential update you should do.
- BOSS: Just delete whatever BOSS files you have and install version 1.65 via the .exe installer. That should take care of everything. It will update the masterlist itself when you run it. Read the BOSS thread opening post, it's one of the most active threads here so easy to find. :)
- OOO 1.34, yes that's good. The latest is 1.34 beta 5. It is called beta but it has been in circulation for over a year now. Everybody is using it, it can be called stable for all practical purposes.
- Essential mods for me are: DarNified UI, Enhanced Economy, Enhanced Hotkeys and Realistic Leveling. All are available on Tesnexus, easy to find. :) Also install OBSE (latest stable version is 19b if IRC. And also get Oblivion Stutter Remover. And Streamline v3. From Streamline only use the PCB feature and the Streamsave feature. Do some reading on these things. This should make your game very stable as your modlist is not very long or complex.

The latest obse can be found http://obse.silverlock.org/. 0019b is the current stable version - I'd get that, unless you're planning on using a mod that requires 0020b5 or whatever. There aren't many of those, and they'll always tell you, on the download info page, and/or in the readme file that comes with them. Always good to read both those things anyway. :)

As for Enhanced Economy, you can find that at tesnexus.com - try searching "enhanced economy" (without quote marks) and it'll come up. Just make sure you don't install the version of Living Economy that can come with OOO, in addition. They're not compatible. Enhanced Economy is basically a replacement, and an upgrade. So, if you like the idea of Living Economy, but want an updated, smarter version, try EE instead.

now updated obse to 0019b, and i think i did install living economy with OOO because i cant see a seperate OMOD for it, so would it be ok if i untick the living economy.esp and living economy items.esp box in OBMM on the left hand side to disable it, and then install EE? (btw i have now downloaded EE)

Ok thank you :) ive discovered a driver update for my nvidia GPU so i'll update that first i think

tried unticking living economy but it still comes up in the BOSS log, so do i need to right click and delete permantly instead?

and also how do i create enhanced economy as a omod? i think ive done it, i downloaded the file as a rar then chose to create an omod from archive clicked on the file and it said something about esps in subfolders so i continued then imported omod conversion data and it then made it, but dont know if it worked as its only about 370kb.

I would not think it would mess up a save as you are not removing any esp files just reinstalling (I assume you already have a save without living economy active?) but stranger things have happened. I usually do not have problems as long as you do not decide to remove/add things at the same time.

As for the omods being in a different folder, if it works, then it works. I never did this and it is a matter of preference I think more than anything else, I never seen any performance difference by having omods in the oblivion directory. I found it easier to keep things default so if I need to backup my game folder I only needed to back up the Bathesda Softworks directory and My Games directories.

So to be safe, make sure Living Economy is not active (if it is, deactivate it then rebuild bashed patch if you use it), load game (should get message about missing content if this is first load after deactivating living economy), wait a couple minutes for everything to initialize, save game. Unistall OOO. Re-install OOO choosing all the options you did before except living economy. BOSS load order again. Start game and load last save. You should not get any messages. If you do then you did not install something you did the first time.

To be safe you might want to make a copy of the Oblivion directory :)

Proceed with caution.

ok im ready to uninstall then reinstall, but i also have the OOO 1.34 beta patch installed aswell so after ive installed OOO again i take it i will have to install the 1.34 patch again?

actually is all this worth it just to switch from living economy to enhanced economy? I can't even remember how to install the 1.34 beta patch

ok im ready to uninstall then reinstall, but i also have the OOO 1.34 beta patch installed aswell so after ive installed OOO again i take it i will have to install the 1.34 patch again?

actually is all this worth it just to switch from living economy to enhanced economy? I can't even remember how to install the 1.34 beta patch


Yes, Install OOO 1.33 full, then install the 1.34 Beta 5 patch over top of it. I recommend creating a BAIN package, and using that to install OOO. Or you could use OBMM. I prefer BAIN, so that's my recommendation. It is superior to OBMM.

Yeah, I would recommend using Enhanced Economy. As BAIN is superior to OBMM, EE is superior to Living Economy.

The beta patch replace the OOO esm and esp files and some meshes and textures. So I would think that unistalling the ooo beta patch first then the ooo full is the right order then reinstall ooo full then the patch.

As for your question if it is worth it, I would say no right now unless you are into the economics of it all. It all works. It will not affect your game unless you want the EE merchant quests and making alot of things illegal to harvest. If that is not a focus of your game, leave it all alone and move on :)

you know what i might just do :) but while were on the subject of OOO, you can also add addons from a addon folder cant you? because i think i remember changing the level rate from x2 to x3 or maybe other way round. Btw i think i'll move my omod directory into my install location in the OBMM folder already there, that wont effect anything will it? as long as i do it in OBMM via 'move omod directory'

You have to be careful with the addons folder. Some are there for the lite version of OOO. Some are compatible with the full version, but if you are running OOO 1.34 Beta 5, it is the full version. Which is recommended.

What melonn said. The addons I would not mess with if using the full version. The readme has specifics on each addon and when it should be used.

Be carefull moving the omods and omod directory. I once deleted an omod and OBMM uninstalled it when I next ran OBMM. But it should be safe if it allows you to do it :)
