On the other end of light thing, the red tactical light for power armor about made my eyes bleed after a short while.

Speaking of the Pip-Boy light...and Power Armor lights...does the Pip-Boy light mod for PA use the same light as what you have set as your Pip-Boy color?

Can I, without having read the thread entirely, ask a question? Or two, as it were.
Does any form of light not mess up your sneak?

Yes. The pipboy light does help NPCS detect you.

The white pipboy light really helps....the green one really made it a task to pick everything clean in dark areas. Probably it's my aging eyes hahahaha.

Is there a way to hold the weapon up close to you so you can still see it, but it's more out of the way?

I notice that it happens automatically if I crouch and walk up to the door of a building I'm going to enter. Then when I get inside the weapon is still tucked up against me as I walk around until I aim it or try to sheath it. But it would be nice to be able to do that at any time.

But if you were clueless like me, and would prefer normal-colored lighting when it's dark, I thought I'd share this :)

Probably the need to squint to see everything instead of just seeing it.

Please don't tell me you can do this in other Fallout games, as well....

Now I am embarrassed. (again)

Yep. Human eyes aren't nocturnal, and our object recognition is very much color-based. Give us a flashlight with more-or-less normal light that deliniates color differences, and we see right off what we want to find/loot. Make it so that everything is the same crappy, drab unnatural color (default pipboy green, for a good example), and we have to strain and struggle to make out objects purely by their shape, eliminating the easiest identifying trait, which is color difference. In rooms and locations with a lot of object clutter to visually sort through, the ability to see color definition is a huge time saver.

Agreed.

One of my own personal problems with the green pip boy light (until now, thank you OP!) is that it renders the beautifully crafted scenery a drab uniform green. Sometimes, even though I wanted to see better, I left my pip boy light off because the scenery looked better even though I couldn't see real well.

With my first character, I used the default green the entire time because I had no idea that the actual light would match the color of the pip boy screen, and I was fine with the screen itself being green. I wasn't fond of the green light, but it was still much better than having no light at all.

Then after starting my second character, I watched part of a Let's Play where the person changed his pip boy screen and the light color changed too. I was sooooo excited and went and changed mine right away!

First time through I used the default. On my second character, I switched the HUD to blue, pip-boy to red. I ended up having to give each a splash of green to make them easier to see as full blue or red is very hard on the eyes.

Then I realized it didn't matter that much because I was playing a power armor character and everything turned that ugly light amber color anyway. :(
