As proof that Fallout 4 is really quite hard to review, my absolute favorite tech news site, Ars Technica, came out with a review

done by someone who is apparently not a great fan of the Fallout genre.

This so distressed the editor in chief (an admitted fan boy) that he did his own op-ed piece on Fallout 4.

I recommend reading both of them for contrasting views on the same game.

For myself, I find it much easier to identify with the successes and the failures if the review is done by a really devoted fan. I can relate, as it were.
