Reviews are in

IGN gave MW2 9.5 and with it went any semblance of credibility. I like their previews and use them for finding out info about upcoming games but their reviews are a pile of dross best avoided.

Look I watched that review and the points seem valid if not very harshly judged. It's at least good to know coming in, and good for the developers to be aware of to prioritise fixes.
I never like IGN reviews as they focus on the negative only, but I do like to be aware of problems even if they are not in the 'disaster' proportions that this review makes them out to be.

From what it seems, all the issues can be fixed by some heavy, heavy DLC initiatives and updates. There will be maps to download and new gameplay modes later, which isn't cool as it feels like you received a 'lesser' version every time they do that, but it is nice to know that it can be "buffed".

It will only really build itself as a game later.

That said, I think Brink will be great for me now, but not the majority of 'standard' fps players looking for the same thing...which is fine because it wasn't made for them anyway.

Sorry, don't know if this has been posted yet but it's quite interesting.

"Uh oh, time for some drama boys and girls. I felt that Joystiq's Brink review was fishy, it almost came off as if it was written by someone that had spent very little time with the game. I was also pretty sure that Griffin McElroy was one of the editors that I played in the media game with. So, I decided to do a little digging, and confirmed that I had played with him while he was under his Xbox Live gamertag called "The Pencil Rain".

The kicker is Mr. McElroy has only earned a total Brink gamerscore value of 225, primarily from achievements that pretty much unlock themselves in the opening hour or two of play. I had over a couple hundred points just after the media playtest, and I'd imagine that's where he left off too. Xbox Live says he was playing Brink just a couple hours ago, yet again the value is 225. In my picture of his gamerscore details below you'll see that he hasn't completed either campaign, let alone the "what if" missions.

This puts a pretty big black mark on Joystiq's journalistic integrity in my eyes. If I had to guess the amount of time he spent playing it'd be a few hours at best, and from my point of view that's extremely unprofessional. But great job on that 2/5 score Griffin, way to shaft Splash Damage and Bethesda by putting in an absolute minimal amount of effort into your review."

i'll trust my own opinion more then a review. its more of a subjective question, COD player won't like it since they only care about getting most kills. bfbc player will like it, but the cod player that play bfbc stil wont like it since they are the ones that play as snipers. ending up with sniper squas spawning at mountains :)

13 between 75 - 81
4 Between 60 - 70
2 Between 25 - 40

It seems a lot are disliking the fact it hasn't got any death match modes and no separate single player.

For the few hours that I have been at this I had fun a few frustations with team-mates not using a head set but fun non-the-less. I enjoyed and I hope these negative reviews don't keep the mass from trying it out for them selves. I honestly believe that after a few months a patch or 2 and some mods the game will warrant a second look.

Also the majority of the reviews were based on the Xbox version I saw nothing about the pc version. anyways all the reviews I read seem to come from the writers point of view and in my opinion reviewing a game after it's only been out for less than 24 hours is a bad idea. If all games were measured by this standard World of Warcraft should have fail on day one as the game was not even play able for hours at a time during it's initial release.

I'm rambling so I'll leave it at this try the game for whatever sytem you preordered for and if at the end of the day you don't like it take it back to where ever you purchased it from and be satisfied with that.

6.0 from Strategy Informer - http://www.strategyinformer.com/xbox360/brink/1486/review.html

Just by reading the side bar: Brink- Genre: RPG.
.... -.-? Very biased review in my opinion, the beginning is already written negatively.
Wouldn't trust this source if I were you.

I knew brink was pretty anticipated and I although the game did not really get my attention I still wanted to buy. But seeing all the serious flaws currently present ingame I think that I will wait until they are fixed. If the majority of the complaints are still there after a few months I will probably not invest into actively update myself with the plans for future updates.

What I'm having dislikes about is merely the fact that some people are so easily influenced on cancelling their pre-order or not going out and purchasing the game at all, 'because the internet says so'. Of course BRINK is bound to have some issues with the game, most games have it one form or another, but just because they're all exploited doesn't even mean you're not going to enjoy the game or that it -is- a bad game in the first place--but people are just so cynical about it and band with what that review says anyway.

In fact, I loved "Tenchu Z" despite what all the reviews depicted and how incomplete it was. It's one of my favorite stealth-based games ever, and with what I've seen on BRINK I'm not letting it go just because of some bad mouthing on it.

Since the reviewer's copies don't have the day one patch, just add .5 to their review score if they mention texture pop-outs or other graphical issues.

These negative reviews have actually made me more fond of this game and more keen to get it.
It is not because of what they have said, but rather because of how everyone has reacted.

It's the people this game has attracted to it. Most forums have flamers and bad-mouthers and stupid comments, but not this one.
Every one here is open to new ideas instead of hoping for the same old thing.

And now that the game looks like it is taking hits, most people on this forum got behind it instead of just abandoning it.

The game could svck for all I care, I'd rather play tetris with you people, than COD9000 with jerks. (I feel a new profile signature coming on)

I just realized. Brink is the dinosaur fossil to the thickheaded catholic IGN.

Some sites are saying that they are holding off reviewing Brink, because SD hasn't patched the game's technical issues yet. I don't get it, I thought there was going to be a day one patch?

These reviews are going to hurt the game nonetheless. Especially since every major video game reviewer, who has reviewed Brink, has given Brink a poor review.

Yeah, I'm still going to get the game friday and hopefully, I'll enjoy it. I think I will because I enjoy playing class based multi player games.

I understand that, but Game Informer announced they weren't putting up a review till sometime this WEEK because that's when we get the patch.

If anything it will be a gem game later seen as a master piece, like Okami and Beyond Good and Evil.

just thought i'd post this review, http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/gamesblog/2011/may/10/brink-game-review?INTCMP=SRCH its a pretty awesome review the guy takes it for what it is and i quote "Brink deserves to be ranked among the finest co-op games available. As a multiplayer experience, it is exquisite. But as mentioned earlier, it falters if played solo". so for all you guys looking for something team based and more unique than the usually Cod clones this is for you, just dont play it expecting the next big thing in solo gameplay and story. oh and man I <3 the guardian

The reviews sound seriously poor despite the hype. I was worried it'd be a flop and it sounds like it will be. I've played worse games that have been given more praise and higher scores by said "biased" reviewing websites.

After the massive hype and excitement amongst pre-release fans it's only natural to not want to believe the critics. Sadly though even if they're not 100% a 2 out of 5 and a 6 out of 10 is bound to be quite average.

I'm considering cancelling my preorder at the minute... not sure what to do. I want the game to be immense as it's exactly what I'd love in a FPS multiplayer but the reviews are seriously off-putting. I feel a little stupid now after hyping it myself and influencing other people to get it.

Just going to apologise if this has already been said... but here goes anyways.

I normally like what these guys say about games, tend to agree with most of it.

(text only i know, but its still worth a read)

Why does everybody care about deathmatch so much, they think objective are repetitive but midlessly killing isn't. IGN, you are filled with nonsice reviewers that have no clue what is fun, I am taking you off my bookmarks!

Death match is horrible!
Run to point A.
Shoot guy at point C.
Run to point B.
Hide in a corner at point B.
Wait for people to walk by.
Die.
Rinse and repeat until your team wins.
BORING!!!
I'd much rather play something with a point.

Don't you guys in Europe have another week until launch? If so, then keep glued to youtube and watch as many vids
and player reviews as you can before deciding. The best way to tell if you are gonna like this game, besides playing it,
which isn't an option in this particular case, is too watch other gamers playing it.
