Ed-E Or Rex

Post » Mon Sep 07, 2009 6:10 am

Simple what secondary companion do you find best? If you dont know much about them look at the below.

I choose Rex since I have high Carisma also since my perception is high enuff I dont need Ed-E's better sensors.

Rex is helpfull for me since Im a sniper and with his speed boost brain he distracts the Enemy while I unload (Other then the deathclaws)

Rex: Can depend on the brain you choose Perk: Highlights loot.
Ed-E:Perk:Upgrade sensors.

What one and why?

Ed-es sensors increase the range the red ticks appear on the compass at the bottom left and high precipitation makes it farther

I
preefer Ed-e because after his quest I gave him upgaraded weapons and he's got great battle music

Rex dies do to his tendency to die all the time, ED-E has a ranged attack, therefor he is superior.

Rex is my best man- correction-, will be my best man. Rex is my good ol' pal who laughs with you when you're down, or even when your health is down.

ED-E is okay, he's one of those companions where you don't care what his health is or if he's lost.

Tried him out with one of my character that used explosives didnt end to well for old rex.

So it ended up turning into a game to see if i could kill him and the enemy XD with one explosive.

ED-E, because it stays behind me most of the time. Not to mention extended radar is awesome.

And he boasts some serious firepower, too. Saved my butt more than once in the early stages, and continues to rock once his zapper has been upgraded.
I love him

ED-E hands down i'm afraid. the increased sensors range goes far beyond 10 perception, he has a ranged attack, you can make him less aggressive, and he doesnt often seek bad guys out or get in the way. As I too cant help but snipe all the time, knowing exactly where the enemy is and not having my stealth or sneak compromised is invaluable, though i did do the nothing but a hound dog quest just for poor rexxy to be healthy again, then left him at the lucky 38...

Rex unfortunately bugs the [censored] out of me by chasing anything and everything, often diving in front of the AMR just as i fire at the enemies heads,
He also gets battered quickly and ruins my tactics. His only saving grace is that he occasionally knocks deathclaws down, but then he usually jeapordises me killing them stealthily from range anyway, and its nice to have a dog following you

I'm using Rex right now because ED-E has vanished, along some pretty rare loot. I miss my Tesla-Beaton Prototype.

the only thing that ED-E does to annoy me is that walking hover sound he makes and this becomes especially annoying when he is behind my other companion so instead of hearing it the whole time i hear it every 2 seconds, i can't turn it off because its not apart of the footsteps category but other than that ED-E is one of my favorite companion because he turns my enemies into fire upon death and his perk allows me to get the drop in deathclaws :flamethrower:

Eddie, his little laser is pretty damn sweet early on and upgraded it packs a punch right through the game. Throw in the extended sensors (not sure if it's the same with everyone but really high perception doesn't always work. Sometimes they'll be really nearby and not show up, Eddie's sensors never let me down) which are a god send for snipers and sneakers alike...the cowboy music which is useful if you get snuck up on, the general not running in to get itself killed and it's quest...

I like rex a little, I liked being able to choose his brain etc, but on the whole Eddie always suits my playstyle much better.

He got exploded into the walls of Bloodborne cave (the tripwire), on core mode, so he was still alive and still my companion. When I did Dead Money, it said he went to Primm, but he ain't there, or at the Lucky 38. I haven't seen him since November.

just FYI, your charisma also affects the DT and damage of ED-E, not just Rex

anyway, both are pretty cool companions. ED-E has an awesome perk and is a good fighter, while Rex is a pretty good fighter too and I usually get the brain that makes him faster, because then he takes less damage while running to his targets. He can also knock enemies down, but that's not a very reliable thing because he knocks people over at random.

Easily ED-E. Really powerful firepower, good carrying capacity, battle music that I modded to have one liners from movies, the extended radar is awesome, and it stays back and fires away, instead of charging like an idiot.
