To me it seemed like he was in cryogenic suspension, so that could be the years spent in cryo, not the physical body age.
Ding, ding! ))
Chapter One: Welcome back
Richard continued to cough, cold air greeting him. He could now see around him, many more of the pods that he was in just a few seconds ago.
"Welcome back to consciousness, Unit Four." the womans voice said once more, Richard slowly raising his head to see a large computer infront of him, many buttons visible.
"What.. what the hell is going on here!?" he said faintly, trying to push himself from the ground, but falling on his stomach in the process.
"It is recommended that you stay on the ground for a few moments, Unit Four. I will explain everything to you." the voice said with no emotion, it seeming to be all around Richard.
He raised his head to look at the monitor, it seeming to be viewing a stoplight through one of the cameras.
"In 2076, the government began collecting individuals with a certain DNA code in there body, which would allow for genetic advancement. These individuals usually did not volunteer, so the government had to find... alternate ways to gather them." the voice said, a car beggining to drive in the middle of the intersection.
Richard's hands shot to his head, him feeling a massive pain like his skull was splitting in two.
He's hackin, he's swackin, he's smackin. played in his head with a rythm to it, almost like a memory. Suddenly, a truck came into view on the monitor, coming directly toward the car, Richard noticing that there was no driver in it.
"Holy shi-" the sound of a car smashing into another banged in Richard's mind, just as the truck smashed into the car.
"This is how you were obtained, Unit Four." the womans voice said, the monitor going black.
Richard slowly looked up, "My name... what the hell is my name!"
"Accesing data. Richard S Greeves." the voice replied to Richard, who was shivering insanely.
"What the hell is this place?" Richard tried to shout, but said fairly quiet. Still, the voice replied.
"A.U.T.L. American Underground Training Labs." the voice answered, the picture of a human body coming into view on the monitor, arms stretched out and legs straight. "Here, we genetically improve the bodies of select individuals such as yourself with greater agility, strength, and mind."
"W-what? I-is this some kind of joke?" Richard replied, his arms wrapped around his body for warmth.
"We can assure you, this is no joke. May I finish?"
"Yeh, go ahead you [censored]."
"We do these in order, with each stat. First strength, then agility, along with mind. And then for every fourth patient, we try to combine them. You however, are the first, and will not be as strong as future versions."
"Future versions.. of what?" Richard growled.
"Evolved humanoids. This program was made under the belief that the Soviet Union was about to launch a full-scale attack on us with robotics technology. However, before that happened, unknown events went loose from above-ground. Eventaully, the scientist that were working on you died off of starvation, leaving me to do the work. This reduced progress massively."
"Wait, wait. What events above-ground? What do you mean died of starvation? What [censored] year is it?" Richard said, irritation in his voice. What was going on was the one question in his mind.
"I do not know. You were however, in there for two hundred years. I am about to realese you in the open world, so you may test your skills. If you ever wish to return into this lab, you may."
"What. Wait, I still dont know whats going o-"
"Now checking stats. Strength, twenty percent. Agility, one hundred percent. Mind... unknown. Please proceed to the next room!"
"What the hell! Answer my question." Richard shouted, but then let out a sigh. He recalled faintly being a repair man before the accident he beleive he was in. Robots, he learned, could be very stubborn. He slowly stood up, and began to follow the direction a red arrow now on the monitor was pointing.
