Ricky and Stella

Post » Sun Aug 08, 2010 9:14 am

I found Ricky to be annoying, but I also kinda felt bad for him. Poor guy had no idea what it was really like in combat. I ran through the ambush scenario a few times (until I realized it was scripted for all of them to die). The first time at it, after the explosions, Ricky starts to scream like a girl which had me bust out laughing and Stella starts to curse at him telling him to get down. The next few attempts I did not hear a word out of any of them. Anyhow, it is too bad we could not save them.

I think Ricky was kind of a teasing poke at the player. The developers were showing us what a worthless chump the Courier would be without the main character powers granted to him by the narrative.

I was sad that Stella and Jed could not be saved, though. Luckily, I realized it was all scripted when I obliterated every White Leg present and turned around to find the whole party mutilated despite the fact that I was the only one being shot at.

They were likeable characters even for their short-life

They very much were! I was kind of expecting Stella and Ricky to be companion options, but then I told Ricky he was a danger to us all and Stella got her arm mysteriously chopped off by a script.

Ricky was a wuss and a psycho addict. I told him that he should stay back because the withdraw and he did. SO I DID SAVE HIM.

Well, except that he's also a complete moron, so he probably just got murdered by Powders or Fiends instead.

I'd like to see Ricky's supposed glowing nut vs Fantastic's theoretical physics degree. ;) It'd be cool if you could go back and tell him what happened (if you sent him away), but I doubt they'd bother putting that in.

I was hoping to be a part of the caravan a few game days longer. I think it would have been pretty cool if the caravan made a final stand at one of the tanger stations.

The idea of Ricky being a parody of the player character is pretty hilarious now that I think about it.

Took me a while to figure out it was scripted as well, and when I did, I was bummed.. :sadvaultboy:

Isn't it, though? All the elements of a Fallout protagonist are there. Pip-Boy, Vault suit, unwarranted sense of self-importance. The only thing missing is his main character shield. I love it.
