(rideable) horsiez confirmed!

I never really made use of horses in Oblivion. I was a wandering mage.

Perhaps I will use them more in Skyrim.

Can't stand people like that. Don't like it? Then don't freaking use it!

Sometimes I just want to jump inside my laptop and send my virtual body to the person's computer and leap out from their screen and :flame:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Companion_cavalry. I would guess this is what the name is based on.

I have no problem with the name, honestly. I always thought "Fighter's Guild" was kind of too obvious. Plus we don't know what other factions might exist that could be more like the traditional Fighters Guild. It's a more interesting name and it makes you wonder what exactly it's all about.

Its finally been confirmed in the PSM, horses are indeed mountable.

Also:

Torches as a weapon
Dragonshout that summons Lightning Storm.
No more physic guards, there's 9 seperate bounties in each hold.
Dragons won't fly when badly injured.
3 factions confirmed; College of Whispers (Mages guild) Thieves Guild, and the Companions (Fighters guild).

Sweet jesus that is nice!

Personally I don't mind if there in. I'd rather them in than out. I doubt ill use them much,i roll a forest running bosmer stealth-archer myself. But I think it would be hilarious to watch a mounted patrol get knocked off his horse get up and watch the dragon that put him on his ass fly away with its afternoon snack.

Bethesda had stated earlier that they werent sure about horses yet and they would only be in the game if they thought they could do them well.
So this means they think they can do horses justice and thats a big yay.

Im probably going to get attached to mine, as I did with the horses in Oblivion, and even Daggerfall.
I hope not too many get eaten by dragons.

im just hoping that character run speed is slowed down so that horses arent just slightly faster than a human. that was stupid looking in oblivion.

On reflection, I highly doubt that Mounted Combat will be in. With the Dual Wielding system in place, and the nature of unlocked combos in weapon styles, plus the magic delivery system, and the fact that Marksmanship is balanced around mobility, I rather doubt it will be in.

Console games make it hard, perhaps impossible to map all of the actions out whilst on a horse

And as for computer games, it WOULD ruin the balance quite a bit and detract from developer time.

But if I am proven wrong, I'll gladly eat my words

I love horses and would have loved too use them in Oblivion but never did because they were [censored], they controlled badly and felt really stiff. Their movement was really unrealistic imo

If they are now anywhere near as good as the horses in Red Dead Redemption I will probably use them all the time.

There are now just 3 main questions I want to know
1) Can you have combat whilst riding
2) Do you have to buy/steal a horse or can you catch and break in a wild horse, which would be wicked in my opinion
3) Can you take part in horse races and/or bet on horse races

These aren't official answers, but I think I have valid points:

1) Look above for one of my previous posts. Short answer is likely no
2) Possibly
3) Doubtable, and even if not, why would you waste your time on that when you can bet on the Arena, or even fight in it?

The reason I like option 3 is because although the areana is 1 option why not have variety, afterall Todd himself said in an interview that the beauty or RPG's is that anything can happen in them. So why limit the games you can take part in to just fighting in the arena and not racing. I like the idea if no one else does that's fine because I doubt it will be in, just thought it would add variety and differnt options which is at least what I think RPG's are about

Just thought of something of what you wrote, OP:
"torches are back"

Torches were never gone... for your information.

I'm really glad horses will be in though. Horses are perfect for an RPG like TES.

Its not as tho I dont like horses in game, but actually in this type of terrain I did not expect them, and what was so wrong with the horses in oblivion, they werent bad by my standards except slow for the most part, I was hoping more for pack animals in skyrim as a more logical choice, Yak/Llama/small ponies/ect,...

Anyone ever seen the horse in Shadow of the Colossus? Some of the best horse animations for a PS2 game. I would argue better than Oblivion's in some respects (but not all). Either way, I think horses are going to be really well done in Skyrim.

But can we fight on them?
One of the stupidest things Mi'ek (or however it was spelled) said was, "Seems like a waste of a perfectly good horse."
Well, bethesda, thats why you don't swing wildly at the back of the horse's neck.

If we can't, then my reaction to this feature is a resounding: "Whoop-de-friggin-do."
