Riekling Army ruined my character. made not fun anymore

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 5:23 pm

so when i learned you could get a riekling follower i was sold. i ventured around the new dlc with my riekling pet and over time he started to annoy me. besides the constant breathing(worse than a dog barking imo) the 3-4 extra rieklings that would appear out of nowhere whenever i encountered an enemy quickly got old. i dismissed my pet and still found the army following at my back at every turn. i figured, well im almost done with this dlc then i will return to skyrim and wont have to deal with them, i was wrong... after returning to skyrim i undertook a quest to a dwemer ruin. about 3/4 of the way down to the ruin i was trying to sneak past some falmer when suddenly combat started and i found myself discovered because i had an army of noisey gremlins huffing and puffing behind me, i guess they followed me down through the ruins and finally caught up with me...now everywhere i go in skyrim i have damn rieks with me and of course i have no save game before thirsk mead hall to revert back too... i have since begun again another character and will avoid thirsk mead hall...

so in conclusion am i the only one that sees a problem here?
on a side note i suppose you can make your party up to a massive size now, prob to the point of massive lag with: You(+2 summons with twin souls)+Normal follower(maybe a mage with a +1 summon)+ a Riekling(+3-4 Riek Army)+if you havent completed Alduins Wall and elected to have Delphine+Esbern(+1 Summon) so in theory thats what? 12-13 companions? follow you around...idk if its possible but that sure would be one messy screen...

On higher difficulties its useful in a sticky situation. I don't really notice them since Serana usually killed the enemy before I even saw them.

My character Braggen has the annoying Riekling fans following him, my Norse character Aussie will definitely be taking the Nord's side in the fight for the Thirsk Mead Hall, she wants no unwanted pests following her.

Braggen will be thinking of trying to kill them off if they are going to follow him to Skyrim, enough is enough, the fur-less ewoks can stay home and do their dancing.

I hate them too, they killed Gunjar, after I killed Werewolf Beastmasters, as a Werewolf, then I proceeded to kill the Whitestag, and then Gunjar attacked the Aspect instead of me...
Now I have worthless space, and BOTH GUNJARS ARE DEAD!

let alone if your two summons are necromancers or mage thralls that summon atronachs. so possibly +4, or +6 if you are just that awesome in a necro dungeon and are using necro thralls (i think), so +4-6 just with conjuration. then follower with staff of any atronach to guarantee another two, apparently a reikling that summons 3-4 more. yeah thats about ten right there. oh and dont forget conjure werebear and dragon aspect and the fire wyrm shout. for an additional at least two possibly more if you get kills with fire wyrm shout. so we are looking at more like 14+ minions, god forbid if you are running around with a pack full of spiders.

Add in the number of dead bodies you pile up then use the Ritual stone. I had a small army of...at least 6-7Draugr Deathlords plus Ulfric and a few other people all due to that one stone. My console seriously lags when they all die again, ah well they make great pack mules.

Lol its pretty much required since
Spoiler

OP I guess I am a bit confused about your story. For me the reiklings that randomly appear dont follow me. Once in battle they appear to help then they will stay stationary in their positions when I leave. Also they have only ever appeared outdoors, not indoors for me.

Chances are they weren't following you. You got detected on your own and once combat initiated they appeared.

OP, just read you post again. You said you were sneaking past Falmer? Solsthiem, as far as I'm aware, does not contain falmer anywhere. Were you in Skyrim propper?

If so, I've yet to hear about the Rieks assisting you in the mainland. I had a Riekling follower and dismissed him shorly after. I had the pack show up randomly around Solsthiem after this, but never around Skyrim itself. Also, how high is your Sneak skill? I've had 2 followers at one time engaging falmer and I remained hidden while taking shots with my arrows. It might have to do with your sneak skill rather than who's following you. Are you sure you wouldn't have been detected if not for the followers?

@ last two posts, i said "...after returning to skyrim i undertook a quest to a dwemer ruin." yes i was back in mainland skyrim, yes i had dismissed my reikling follower days before, i was approximatly 3/4 through the dwemer ruin "Alfand" or w/e when i entered the area with the large group of falmer and was sneaking around them when the rieklings caught up to me and engaged the falmer, the falmer rushed to meet them, discovering me in the process. idk what my sneak lvl was at iv deleted that char, i was lvl 73 so prolly high 80s low 90s i was also wearing muffled boots, i wasnt discovered until the falmer literally ran into me while targeting one of the reiklings...

There are plenty of glitches to get followers on consoles. You can get the two DB initiates, the 2 from the main quest, Serana, and a regular follower, I use Cicero, 2 summons, a pet (I love the dwarven sphere).

That's nine permanent followers right there if you want them but it gets tight in dungeons.

They also tend to have giant brawls if one of them hits the other. I've had them all fighting each other at the same time and had to fast travel somewhere so they stop.

Ahem. To people hating their Riekling army.
Kill them all.
That should fix it. Leave none of them alive; no one must know what has occurred this day.
if you can, kill them and then leave their body way, wayyyyy underground. In the deepest dungeon you can think of, but not Blackreach (since it has elevators to the surface). That way, if for some stupid reason they respawn, they'll have to fight their way out of a huge dungeon to get to you.

i tryed at one point killing them at first it said "reikling warrior riested frost" so i pulled a blade then he just went into recovery stage...i could not kill them... the next time a dragon appeared i let the dragon kill them, it didnt work they would still appear every battle..

Are you seriously crying about having a bunch of twisted little freaks with spears watching your back? Boo Hoo they breathe funny and make werid noises...lol

I love them. Anyone who messes with my little freaky friends gets dealt with. I never get tired of em.

Not really. They can be useful in fights especially against stronger enemies. Only thing is that they have the funny breathing but other than that they make decent tanking material and work out better than dogs.
