Riften has open graveyard day

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 4:02 pm

I'm dead serious here. I'm up to my elbows in thief corpses! First time I thought it was really cool to see a thief running like hell from the guards and being eventually shot down but now it's getting crazy. Last night I walked into Riften and there were, I kid you not, over forty dead thieves! If that wasn't enough another one ran past and into the Bee and Barb. I followed inside and a guard accidentally hit an NPC inside to which all characters present responded by attacking the guards! It was a massacre and only two guards were left standing.

Anyone else had this in Riften?! It's getting nuts...corpses aren't disappearing for some reason and I now know why people complain about the smell in Riften. They aren't talking about the Ratway.

Can you make a pic of that?

That's actually awesome, should try to trigger that somehow... Nonetheless once Creation Kit is out there'll be plenty of crazy situations (albeit not because of a AI bug) to be found..

Is it possible to chuck em all down the big well in the middle of the market place? Be careful though if it is. You might have an army of thieving Sadako's on your hands later.

Seems I'm not the only one; http://www.neoseeker.com/forums/52479/t1697540-riften-corpse-problems/. Not having lag issues...yet.

Stay away from Riften long enough for it to reset, they should be gone.

This sounds as if it has as much potential fun as the famous "start a riot with Ungolim" and "start a riot with the Bleak Mine guards" scenarios in Oblivion. I too have noticed the thief corpses piling up in Riften.

That's the problem; they do not disappear! It's still not a game-breaking issue at all and I have good sense of humor about it but I'm afraid it will become a major problem beyond the imagined smell. Just wanted to know if others have the same issue on console or PC.

Luckily you can disable, thus remove the corpses using console commands on PC. On consoles though... you may have to do a lot of work to spread them around town or throw them in some nearby river to wash them away if possible.

Had this problem too, here a pic:

http://cloud.steampowered.com/ugc/630731953330505921/ABF64343874080CC3FC163AA46768D4408879377/

It seems that after 1.2 it got cleaned up. Also before the patch I tried to sleep on another city and let some time pass, but the more time passed, the more the corpses piled up.

Ah, and I'm on PC.

Thanks Neurological, just have to deal with it then as I refuse to install 1.2. I play mage and would hate to deal with the magic resistance or lack thereof. Kudos.

I also love the civilian NPCs with collateral damage. I saw a woman from the market with several arrows through her courtesy of the Legionnaires shooting into the melee. It made me laugh.

By Azura someone is cloning thieves in Riften!! Maybe it's a hidden quest? Find the mad scientist before Riften becomes unplayable.

When life gives you lemons, make lemonade (Or lemon grenades).

Where you see a pile of annoying corpses, I see a ready supply of zombies :3

Also watch out for Riverwood, I had two of them there too, inside a house, they spawned with me after a fast travel at night there.

Um, that couldn't happen in this game, if you would properly dispose of the bodies by throwing them into the river, like I do. :P
I tend to drag the dead bodies into the closest body of water.
A forsworn couple attacked me and ended up killing my horse. I was crushed; she was a great horse. In response I brutally murdered the duo, stripped them of their belongings and laid them around my horse, kind of like how they put all the orc swords in Borimir's boat when he died. Oh yeah, then I grabbed each body, did a 360-degree rotation to get a good trajectory and threw them off the bridge against the cliff, which they ragdoll'ed down into the rushing river below. I felt much better.

I'll march them into battle from now on, two at a time. Hooray for the conjuration perk! At least I'll get some fun out of it :P

@ Neurological o_O I now have visions of the entire province of Skyrim covered in thief bodies.

I always throw them in the canol. I'm sure they are still there, all floating together but at least I don't have to look at it. Hopefully I get bored of the game before the amount of corpses ruins Riften.
