Rig your dog ?

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 6:42 am

So...we know that our dog will be an essential character,i.e. it can't be killed.

What if in Fallout 4 we would be able to craft some kind of sticky explosives, will you attach it to your dog and send it at you enemies, and when if gets close - detonate it?

Will you send your dog in front of you in a building, to check is there is any mines or wire-triggered explosives?

Personally i wont even pick up a dog because i do not like followers, but for people who will - an immortal dog that we can give commands opens a wide range of possibilities.

That feature won't be in I guarantee you that, it doesn't even make sense. People might mod it in, but the problem with it is it's totally immersion-breaking

Pretty sure being immortal won't mean being indestructible. I think once a companion gets KO'd, you have to bring them back with a Stimpak or wait until combat ends.

And you definitely won't be able to attach explosives to Dogmeat. Maybe you can use him as bait, though.

Would be cool if he would growl if you are near mines or similar boobitraps.

He growls in FO3 when enemies are near. I like that feature :-)

Well, it does come into play here. The dog isn't immortal immortal by actual means, it's a game mechanic.

Rigging up your own dog to be a suicide bomber...That's just...

Wow we really are bored around here aren't we? This is where we've gotten.

You can tell a lot about a person by how they play video games. Not so much their personality, but what goes on inside their heads.

I work in Mental Health, so whenever I see people post about wanting to do...morally bankrupt acts...like...rigging your own dog companion with bombs...Or The Thing We're Not Allowed To Talk About...I start going through the motions of evaluating. Why would you consider thing? What is the persons thought process? Is there a specific reason they want this, or is it just an idea? Is it a call for attention?

There are these flags at work for when those types of people call

..
Think he saw that weird weapon documentary involving pigeon guided bombs, antipersonnel dog bombers, training dolphins to kill and selling them to desert people

I'd give a few examples, but you and I are probably both aware of this thing called HIPPA.

Nah that is just silly, the point of video games is that you can do things you won't do in real life, life start a mass murder with a mini-gun in GTA V, role play serial killer or a cannibal in Fallout/Elderscrolls game, make a suicide bomber out of your companion, etc...

I would like to think that there will be enough examples of times where we could actually effectively use the dog, but I have my doubt. I imagine that anyone that can hold a gun will, overall, be a better companion to have.

Course the idea of having a dog that can't die ... and then having it stomp all over the minefields ... knowing it can't die ... kind of seem like a loophole.

There's gonna be a hardcoe mode where partners die for real when they die. And I'm gonna play that. What you describe, mister opening post, is simply CHEESY! Any gamer worth his salt doesn't abuse mechanics.

Hardest difficulty on hardcoe mode 4 life.

Jihad jeeping with your own dog is just ridiculous, but I'd be open to the idea of training Dogmeat to reverse pickpocket with a live grenade.

We don't know that yet, there might not be a hardcoe mod at all.

There may not be a hardcoe mode, but there will almost certainly be a hardcoe mod.

As far as exploding your dog goes, wouldn't that count as killing him yourself? Because I suspect we may still be able to kill our companions, even if enemies can't.
